Is anyone else talking Wegovy for heart disease?
The FDA recently approved Wegovy for heart disease. My medicare Advance Plan now covers it at $99 a month so I started on it this week. I cannot take any statins, I couldn’t even take red yeast rice. I was on Repatha which brought my numbers down, but it has the nasty side effect of maybe making you diabetic which worried me greatly. Repatha brought my numbers down so now that i have switched to Wegovy I’m wondering if Wegovy will maintain those lower numbers for me. I do like the Wegovy side effect of weight loss. I LOVE how my brain is thinking about food now.

I get it. I order my apixaban from Canada right now. Not sure of tariff impact later in the year...

1 ReactionTry again. Insurance carriers are not required to cover it at all. Absolutely not.

1 ReactionI’ve been on Wegovy for 2 years , lost about 60 lbs I’ve heard of other benefits of Wegovy and weight lose would be one of the best thing you can do for your heart . I also take atorvastatin for cholesterol which I’ve been taking for years I guess I am one of the lucky ones as I take 7 different meds a day , some twice a day and have no side effects from any of them . High cholesterol , high BP , Afib sleep apnea CHF Sounds bad but I have collected these issues over a number of years and I have to say losing weight on Wegovy has been the best thing I’ve done for myself. I lead an active life walking riding my bike . My wife still works so I’m in charge of the house cleaning etc . I’m 73+ and have to say with medication and doctors I’ve been pretty lucky I wish you well

2 ReactionsGood for you!!!!
I started with Repatha and had to switch to Praluent for insurance coverage and then had to switch back to Repatha for insurance. I did notice my sugar went up and asked the doctor to request Praluent again for me and just started Praluent again. Hopefully the sugar has gone down. Also considering Wegovy, (have 4 cardiac stents LAD) but I had no idea it could "replace" the Praluent????

1 ReactionThe side effect of sugar going up really concerned me. My cardiologist blew that off, but I told he that I didn’t want to trade heart disease for diabetes.
