Metformin

Has anyone discontinued Metformin per physician due to side effects like abdominal issues, weakness and fatigue?

I've been taking metformin since 2002, and it has helped me a lot.
But... I have to keep the dosage at 500mg x 2 daily.
Any more than that, it makes me sick as a dog.

A couple of times, doctors have wanted to double my dose and I have flatly refused.

I am taking 500mg once a day fot prediabetes but sometimes I feel sick. I have good days and other times not so good but it keeps my blood sugar in normal levels. My PCP prescribed it to me because my parents both suffered from late onset diabetes and it has been proven that it delays the process towards Diabetes Type 2. The Endocrinologists don’t see pre-diabetes patients here in Virginia.

I forgot to mention...taking metformin on an empty stomach is practically suicidal. This medication is hard to digest. I have to have a pretty full stomach when I take it.

Yes I noticed it too. I take it exactly after my breakfast. Thank you
