Fat grafting or Botox to relief pain & tightness after treatment?
I had radiation and chemo for SCC on the base of my tongue and a few lymph nodes. Has anyone had fat grafting or Botox injections to relieve pain and tightness? If yes, what are your about the effectiveness of the treatments.

I have been on Botox for my post radiation chronic migraine for a couple years now. It hasn’t been working so she decided to use my entire dose in my neck(front/back to see if it will relax my neck which in turn might reduce the migraine.
Yesterday was my first neck injection and I will say, last night was my best sleep in several months.
Today my neck feels much better and my migraine is at about a 7-8 rather than a 9-10.
I think my shoulders feel a bit better as well.
I’m on a muscle relaxer for my jaw tightness which helps with talking and eating. She injected both sides of my jaw as well and so far I hear less popping and I think it’s opening a bit better.
If your insurance covers it you might want to try it? I pay a copay of $250 which is every 3 months.

Anyone had Botox in neck for stiffness in the neck. Radiation has really done a number on me and my chest and neck are so stiff it feels like someone is choking me. It's hard to swallow. Still on feeding tube a year after surgery.
I had Botox 2 years ago for stiffness in neck from radiation. It seemed to work at first but after a couple of months it was not helping. I would not rule out trying it. Good luck
I’m battling chronic migraine 24/7 since cancer treatments 8 1/2 years ago.
Migraine meds were not working and they were $400 per month for 9 pills.
I started Botox a bit over 2 years ago. My head and face were the target areas. It took about a year before I noticed any relief but then it stopped working so my PA decided to use the Botox in my neck, front and back. The relief was quite fast as far as my neck stiffness. Within a few days my migraine reduced from a chronic 10 pain to about a 7. I can definitely live with a 7 pain!
My neck stiffness was much more tolerable for 2 months. I will receive another round of Botox this Friday and I am definitely in need. I’m back to a 10 migraine and very stiff neck. This will only be my second round to the neck so I’m sure it will take several rounds to really know how well it will work?
Also just FYI, I was on feeding tube for nearly a year as well. Eating is still a challenge!
I will try to keep you up to date!

Thank you.
Sorry I was mistaken; my next Botox is June 30th not this Friday 🤷♂️
Thank you for the information. That helps me . Seeing the doc.today.
I had nasopharyngeal cancer treatment in 2006, and I was ok in speech and swallowing. But in mid 2020 - I had problems with speech (not able to form words - slurring), and with swallowing. It was then that I was diagnosed with severe neck fibrosis
My oncologist, medical teams, and my doctor from Late Effects of Radiation did not refer me for botox treatments (it's only lately from this website that I am aware of botox to assist in severe neck fibrosis).
Does one require a referral from family doctor? Thanks.
I got referred by my oncologist.
Yes you will need a referral to see a neurologist that uses Botox.
Don’t go to a plastic surgeon the neurologist will know where to inject the Botox and they know how to word their medical reports for your insurance.
Botox is once every three months and as for me I’m on Medicare and the copayment is $250.00 per visit.
My primary physician referred me to the migraine specialist who happens to be a PA and her husband is a neurosurgeon.
Hope this helps
