I have a mass on my kidney

Posted by chucklesintx @chucklesintx, May 19 1:40pm

Hello all,
36M. I have noticed that I have some pain on my flank for some time but alwyas took an anti biotic and felt better. Anyway, yesterday I had a really bad abdominal pain like I have never felt before.

Went to the ER, did a CT scan and was told I have a mass/lump on my kidney. I'm in a lot of pain. My family lives outside the US, parents are elderly and my entire world has been turned upside down.

I'll be getting a biopsy soon to know but I'm in so much pain. Was prescribed Tramadol but it's so bad and I can't go back to ER for pain meds because they ignored me.

I've been crying. I feel so alone and helpless to face this fight.

Sorry to hear of your medical problem. I found out about my kidney cancer after I had episodes of blood in my urine a little over two years ago; a cystoscopy was done and biopsy done to verify that the kidney lesion I had was malignant. I have been on immunotherapy for about 14 months. I and others going through cancer treatment empathize with you as you go through a difficult time. You are not alone; we all understand the difficult time a medical problem is, but hopefully your medical team will help you face this.

Thanks Ron. Here's hoping that I can get it surgically removed and never have to think about it again.

I had a 5 cm mss on left kidney. After kub ct scan i had partial nephrectomy and got the Mass removed. Be careful in kub contrast ct scan. They gave test dose before ct scan no reaction. They gave full dose and ct scan was done. After ct scan was done immediately my body was shivering for 3 hours and bp came down. I was in icu for 2 days and after that 5 days in hospital. I got my surgery done at Basavatarakam hospital in Hyderabad India in March 2025. Now I am good. It was stage 1 kidney cancer.

I got stage 1 kidney cancer surgery done and 5 cm Mass removed 2 months back. Doctor said 90 percent it will not return but we should be careful. I stopped eating junk food from 3 months. Mu weight was 110 kg and now it's 100kg.

I had 10% of my right kidney removed in December 2024. (6cm Stage 1)
My urologist wants me to get 4 MRIs the first year and 2 the second year.
My first MRI shows excellent results, hopefully it stays that way.

What we can do is eat only good food. I stopped working full time job and planning to doing only free lancer work for 2 hrs from next month. Reason is full time job stress may lead to blood pressure and ultimately bp is one reason for cancer to come back.

Be careful with scans in very rare case like my case ct scan with contrast i had reaction and was in icu and hospital for seven days. Bp came down and body was shivering for 3 hours after ct scan

I agree that job will stress you out. I am retired now for 7 years and stress level have come down significantly.

I will be doing MRIs the 5 of them the next 2 years. I am not allergic to meds, so no negative reaction with CT a few months ago, nor last MRI, hopefully it stays that way for me.
