When to accept permanent long covid?
Had Long Covid for 11 months. Is there still a chance it could go away or is it time to accept as permanent. Have heard give it anywhere from 1 to 2 years. Any feedback on that?

Does look like we are on our own. At least we have the wonderful support of this group. So sorry for your suffering. We wish you a hopeful future. Best wishes and try not to lose hope. Good luck to you.
Perhaps you should consider wearing a mask when indoors, they may be a bother to wear for many reasons but getting repeat infections from covid is a whole lot worse.
Agreed. Do wear a mask whenever out and indoors. But avoiding that situation for now.Also at home if someone is ill, coughing or sneezing. Thanks for reply.
I have had Long COVID since April 2020. My PA at the time laughed when I suggested that I had it. I had been in a training seminar just prior to contracting LC in Ann Arbor, MI, in a large in international hotel, where I was exposed to 80+ classmates and teachers as well as other onyernational guests. I returned on a packed flight. Even now, I struggle with heavy leg syndrome, balance issues, which make any walking diffcult and scary. I also expereince dizziness from time to time. I just recently saw a long COVID DR., and I will be starting a rehab program in a few weeks. time. I also have sleep issues. He suggested I take Naltrexone, 1.5 mg and Gabapentin at 300mg. I have been on both for about 3 weeks and I have felt an improvement.
I am hoping tjat this along with rehab will address the issues I am having long term. I can really relate to what you have expressed. But you are not alone. We are in this together. Debra

So sorry for you suffering through this for so long. Sounds like you had no chance to avoid. Much like me. Said 25% chance of Paxlovid rebound. Stupid me. Caught twice in 10 days. Good luck with your rehab and meds. Yes. We do have each other for support. Sincerest
best wishes going forward.
Thank you for your kind and thoughful response. Let's stay in touch and we can continue being of support to each other, while still helping others. chaudeb19@yahoo.com. Debra
Debra. Sounds good. Would like to hear updates on your rehab. I'm currently only self treating because I'm still mostly functional at 72 and know, as per postings here most docs have no understanding of long covid or treatment options. But I'm always hopeful and looking. I'm also looking to join an in person local support group. Wishing you the very best.
My first round of LC last year ended after about 8 months - until November of 2024. Then I had several month’s ‘vacation’ from it, thankfully, until it came back in about March of this year. The LC literature says LC can be intermittent. But now I have only frequent fatigue, occasional PEM, GI trouble, and rare dizziness and balance problems. I don’t have the chest pain and SOB that I had last year, thankfully!!
Gregor,
Have you looked into Dr. Bruce Patterson’s LC practice in Houston? He’s had a lot of success in treating LC, apparently. He was head of virology at Stanford but now runs an LC diagnostics and treatment firm.
@itsmeagain
Every doctor I speak with tells me it’s most likely permanent. I’ve read of some people who have had remission episodes but never permanent.
I’m trying to resign myself but I don’t always do a good job.
Good luck to all of us.
