Nanoknife for pancreatic cancer
Hi,
My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma 7 months ago. It is inoperable because it is wrapped tightly around superior mesenteric artery. He has done 12 cycles of chemo (oxaliplatin, irinotecan and floururacil) but tumor has not shrunk but it hasn't spread/grew either. We were told that continuing chemo after this many sessions is not good for his bone marrow and another chemo regimen is unlikely to going to help if 5FU didn't. We are given an option to go through Nanoknife procedure to "freeze" the tumor. The surgeon said he has done 200 procedures in the last 7 years and there are still some patients who haven't had any additional growth. Does anyone have experience with nanoknife? How was it? Any concerns? Just trying to get more information on this procedure as we were told to make a decision as soon as possible as the tumor hasn't spread to other organs yet and he will no longer be a candidate if it presents spread.

Hi @lulu789, I hope you saw the responses from fellow members about the nanaknife for pancreatic cancer here https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1311078/ and here https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1301694/
Yes, nanoknife is available at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. In fact, Dr. Rory Smoot, was the Mayo Clinic principal investigator in Rochester along with Dr. John Stauffer at Mayo in Jacksonville conducted this clinical trial:

@lulu789, if you or anyone else has questions about nanoknife and the treatment of pancreatic cancer, you can ask Dr. Stauffer, Mayo Clinic. He will be answering people's questions next week on May 29 in this discussion:

Thank you so much for this information... I am so excited and hopeful to learn about this procedure. I am waiting for my information to be reviewed and waiting for the call to go to Mayo for an eval. ASAP... THank you for this ..
After reading many of your postings, I know that I have made the right decision after being diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer 4 months ago. I am 92 y.o. And chose not to have chemo or any treatment to prolong my life. The diagnosis was 4 months ago and the tumor has doubled in size, and. I am starting to have the pain and discomfort, which I now control with gummies. I will not take the Oxy until the end when the pain becomes unbearable. I was given 6 months to a year, but it might be a little longer. Chemo would only give me, possibly 3 more months and would be too difficult for me to go through. I am happy with my decision and am very grateful to be enjoying these last days with my family.
Hugs to you. My husband had terrible pain, radiating from front to back, it was part of what led to this diagnosis. Oxy barely touched it, they gave him Oxy and a Fentanyl patch, which gave him back the ability to have a life. There is some brain fog, but otherwise minimal side effects and he's doing well on his chemo after 2 treatments. I realize your situation is different, but wanted to point out that controlling the pain has been a game changer.
There is a Dr Bose at Johns Hopkins doing Nano-knife. We had an appointment but someone there screwed up and it was made with a different Dr. We are in the process of rescheduling the appointment to see if this is an option.
Who is the surgeon. We are interested in nanoknife.
How do I reach Dr. Bose?
