Cardiologist said the diagnosis is…………..

Afib flutter 100% of the time. So I am on Eliquis and Metoprolol and headed for a shock in 4-6 weeks.
Doc didn’t have me make any lifestyle changes which was good. Liked the doctor he has similar sense of humor. He also apologized that other EKG’s were missed diagnosed. He showed me on both the Mayo and my KARDIAmobile tracings how to recognize the flutter and you have to zoom in a bit.
I’ve had house payments that were less than 1 month of Eliquis.

I posted this a couple of months ago regarding Eliquis:
If you qualify this should be affordable. I used it and paid only $10 a month for the time I needed it. https://www.eliquis.bmscustomerconnect.com/savings

Unfortunately I have insurance so that option is not available. I need to straighten out my drug insurance stuff and it will be less expensive with mail order.

After my initial 2 months of Eliquis at ~$525.00 the price has dropped to ~$125.00. This is with Humana through Medicare. I think $525 a month was at least double of my first house payments. I didn't have the flutter, just your basic Afib. Had a cardioversion a little over 2 months ago and still in NSR. I will have PFA procedure on 23 May and hopefully I can stop the Eliquis and the metoprolol. The metoprolol has not been my favorite medication.

Metoprolol under 24hr Heart Monitor measured 186bpm I was 1 year 6 months post stroke without being referred to a cardiologist or have a follow up after hospitalisation. Also it showed 2 sec pauses at night during my normally low H/R of 47avg bpm. Changed to Bisoprolol however this other BB showed 156 anf I was left there.
It was a CCB Diltiazem 120 CD mg early morning which controlled me down to 60s until afternoon and 80s after dropping the 2.5mg Bisoprolol.
Stopping Bisoprolol 2.5mg first down to 1.25 my PRO-BNP from 198 to 103 and further down to 89 now stopped. I have banned all BBs.
You need the correct med.

That sounds much better. Glad you got that clarified. Sorry for what you’re experiencing. Hope your doctor can get your heart rhythm under control. 🙏🏼

Something I’ve said here before , the best doctors and surgeons are at the best University hospital . Do some research and get a second opinion Your situation sounds like something that should not be happening Be proactive . Find good doctors with great credentials. Best

I'm in NZ. We don't have any hospitals attached to Universities here.
Having a stroke and unable to talk to get across my reservations of Metoprolol. I couldn't drive until 2020. Then had thyroidectomy. Waiting for 2 operations too. But H/R not under 100 until I was persuaded to go to a Private Heart Specialist.
Too late with Heart abnormalities now.
I am proactive. Declined RAI treatment post thyroidectomy. Declined suppression of TSH. Low risk I keep level low normal according to best & highest Thyroid Surgeon My Gary Clayman.
The heart issues are more difficult to deal with. Especially when Drs - Locums don't listen.
My triage team is geared up for thyroid cancer followup care.
Last Fen 2024 I was recalled for 3 calcification macro areas. Had another CT Scan with iodine last Monday. Awaiting results, is it cancer, scarring ???
