MILD procedure scheduled. Comments, please?
My mom is 87 years old, and she has had Spinal Stenosis for years. Her MRI shows severe stenosis on L2-L3, L3-L4, and L4-L5. It is now that she has become unable to walk without a cane and walker. She's much slower now and much more pain. Her doctor recommended the minimal invasive lumbar decompression (MILD) procedure to clear out the stenosis area. I'd like to know if anyone has had this procedure done. If so, how was recovery after procedure (quick and easy? long and hard?), and did the procedure work for you....a little, a lot? Please post your comments....she is presently scheduled for the procedure on May 23, 2024.

The Mild procedure used by orthos at has uses a scope to see inside your spine. It's used instead of a disectimy. People get confused. It's different from the mild the physiatrists use
All that fluoroscopy is is xray in real time that they can watch to movement of their instruments.
I have very bad spinal stenosis pinched nerves etc. I had the MILD procedure recently which is the minimally invasive lumbar decompression. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has had typhus and how long they were in post op pain?

4 ReactionsI had the mild procedure done on L3-L4-L4-L5. The pain I had down both buttocks, both thighs, both calves to ankles is gone. Getting PT done still on walker, but the other day I used my cane to go maybe 25 ft with PT man holding lightly my left arm, and did great. He wants to do electric stim on my left legs, which are the weakest, but I have to call Medronic to find out if he can with my pacemaker. The MILD Procedure is done for people who have stenosis, which won't help anything else. So far, so good!

Unfortunately for me there was no improvement. Pain doc wasn’t sure it would work.
Good morning, i have a spinal fusion on september tenth. I am in so much pain that I could hardly walk. But I am also leery of this procedure. L 3 L4 L5 I really wanted the TOPS procedure but they cannot perform that because I have osteoporosis. Has anyone had the TOPS procedure.
Thank you, Nesema
My husband had the MILD procedure in March and now end of August and still doing good. Still back pain he’s 73 but the leg pain he was having is gone. He did do PT for a few weeks but felt it was going to mess things up so stopped. Highly recommend it but as we know everyone is different.
Had my mild procedure done end of April, went good until the beginning of August, now the pain is almost where it was back in April. I am going to see a surgeon in 2 weeks, he has my MRI to see what can be done. Will let everyone know as time goes on.
Had it done end of March, it now beginning of September and I’m still doing so much better. My doctor told me it’s not a cure but should give me relief. He was right…no more leg, buttock pain….yes I still have back pain but what the MILD procedure was for has worked for me. So far so good.
