What are your accommodation recommendations when coming to Mayo?

Where is your favorite place to stay when going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Jacksonville or Scottsdale/Phoenix? Why?

No, she does not know any one from Mayo. I will ask her to reach out to the volunteer coordinator. Prob they will be able to provide more info reg accommodation.

I stay at the Residence Inn Jacksonville-Mayo area. It’s very close, but not right on campus. I think it takes me about five to eight minutes to get on campus. Two stop lights from hotel to Mayo entrance. The rooms are very nice and I often eat in the dining area or use the kitchen in the room. Also, very quiet. During my first visit I stayed right on campus, but it was an older facility, seemed crowded in the lobby and dining area.

The Rochester Hilton Mayo Clinic Area is a little nicer than the Marriott, and you can still access Mayo's subway system without leaving the hotel. It's also a little farther away from the Gonda and Mayo buildings, and a little more expensive. Both have nice restaurants, but Hilton's is better. I am going to try the Hyatt House Mayo Clinic Area this week. It's a little cheaper than either the Marriott or Hilton and not connected to the Mayo complex, but has a free shuttle. A lot of people like the Kahler Grand, which is the closest to Mayo's facilities, and connected to their subway or accessible through a skybridge. I think it's considered a three-star property rather than a four star, which the other two hotels are. All of this is less important if you have a car, because the hotel parking is pretty expensive. I have flown to Mayo and am not very ambulatory.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which was 0.2, about a 5 minute walk for my husband from the entrance to St Mary's where I was a patient. You could see the main entrance of St Mary's from the parking lot. Parking and breakfast included. The shuttle bus stops at the entrance and went to the downtown campus. Parking is limited close to the hospitals and other buildings. I concur with contacting concierge services and do read the many past comments.
