Percussion Vests: Are you using one? Is it working for you?

Anyone willing to guess how many “regulars” on this forum use a vest?

Where do I get one and what do they do??

I use it when I can’t exercise. I don’t find it does me much good, but that is probably because I exercise 5-6 times a week by cycling, using a Garmin to make sure I get a decent workout. What that is depends on age and fitness, but after a few weeks you will know what that is for you.

My SmartVest was prescribed by my bronchiectasis/ MAC clinic, it was paid for by my Medicare advantage plan except for a ridiculous copay which was covered by the company's financial assistance. I had no wrinkles with getting it covered but some people have trouble. I think it helps to have it prescribed by an office that has a lot of experience prescribing them because they will know what qualifies you and what is more likely to trigger a "no" (which then can be appealed).

Love my vest and am taking it abroad tomorrow. First overseas travel for it. Agree that it is been an amazing addition to my daily airway clearance regime.

Hi friends -
I just returned from National Jewish Health for an amazing two-week visit, and I was able to try a SmartVest there. They have ordered me one and I am in the process of working out the details with the company. The respiratory therapist there said they like this model - SmartVest.

I've promised to share some of my takeaways from the experience, and will do so when things settle down a bit!
Kind regards,
Jill

I have a Smart Vest prescribed by my pulmonologist. Long story short I did not find the vest helped me and began to have side pain and more blood in my mucous when using it. After reducing time and strength levels I quit using it and am doing well with nebulizing and air way clearance. I think the vest is not for everyone but you don't know until you try and it can be a costly test.
