Taketsubo Cardiomyopathy
I was diagnosed with Taketsubo Cardiomyopathy at age46 . It will be 3 years this July. I’m beta blockers and a statin for my cholesterol. Ejection fraction has not gone above 50% and if it hits 58 usually goes back down next time I get an EKG anybody have any experience that this shit was supposed to go away in 2 years max is what I was told in the er?

I had a Takotsubo cardiomyopathy 8 years ago. I was placed on Xarelto because I developed a blood clot in my heart while in the hospital. Ten days later I had a stroke. I recovered fully and was taken off Xarelto because I got a bleed in my right kidney. I don’t take anything else different than what I take for my high blood pressure and afib, but I am told my heart is weak and I will be getting a stress test soon. I recently read a study that says that a Takotsubo is more damaging than a heart attack. Everything I read before didn’t say it was worse. My EF went back to normal afterwards but not sure it’s still normal. I’m very careful to control my stress because I don’t want it to happen again. It doesn’t sound like your EF is too terribly low. Good luck. There’s not a lot of people who have experienced one so it’s nice to be able to hear others experiences.
Hello @amialonehere24,
I'd like to invite @megan1853 to this conversation as they also mentioned being diagnosed with takotsubo cardiomyopathy as well.

@amialonehere24 - Have you been offered a deeper explanation into what may be leading to your continued takotsubo cardiomyopathy? How are you doing with symptoms or your day-to-day life?
Hello from Oregon,
Thanks for inviting me to your group
I am pleased to report that my Takotsubo cardiomyopathy according to my cardiologist has totally healed. I am back to my usual diet and activities.
However, knowing it can happen again has made me work harder on stress management including EFT (Tapping on acupuncture points—see Google for how-to videos).
Any suggestions for stress reduction?
Thank you all.
Megan
New here. Had first Takotsubo attack last weekend. I’m always stressed but nothing in particular. So much varying opinion. Just trying to learn more from people’s experiences.
This was helpful to my wife when this occurred - only once thus far.

Hi. I'm new to this group. I suffered my 3rd episode of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy two weeks ago. Has anyone else had 3 episodes? I think I need to find a cardiologist that specializes in this but don't know where to start. I was born with WPW, had a ablation 35+ years ago, and have been having some weird rhythm sensations that aren't showing up on monitors, but that is what lead me to the ED. Does anyone know of any specialists in the NY/NJ area that they can point me to?
I'm so sorry! I thought it only lasted a few weeks to a few months, not years! That's terrible. Mine happened the evening after the funeral of a dear friend of mine. I cried so hard I thought I broke something or tore something but turned out to be Taketsubo cardio. It lasted about 3 months. For about a month I had to sleep sitting up on the couch with my back not touching the couch so I was kind of propped up on my side against the couch. It was miserable. So for the last few months I've been having some marital issues and today I got so stressful financial news. A couple hours later I felt like I was having a heart attack and since then I've felt that all too familiar chest and back pain. I tried to lay back on the couch and, like before, it made it more difficult to breathe and the pain got worse. I know it's back and I'm so sad and frustrated. It makes me angrier at my marital situation for stressing me out. It's all so frustrating because I know that I'm going to have to rest more which means stuff doesn't get done and the house becomes a disaster...and I can't do a damn thing about it.
I am concerned now that I've read posts here and, I guess, some new articles because I didn't know that they could cause permanent damage. I've learned that my cardiologist downplays things because he didn't tell me about that stuff I learned tonight. I'm scared now because I have P.O.T.S. so my heart already beats excessively high, like over 100bpm while sitting on the couch relaxing. I'm not sure how/if this could interact with the T.C. Sorry I can't be of any help but I'm here for support!
