Great timing for this question. I finally stopped taking daliresp two weeks ago and I am sleeping through the night without crazy dreams. I appreciate the nice change.
I finally, after 2 months of no sleep decided to stop the Daliresp and got a straight 8 hour sleep night. I did not feel that it was having any effect on secretions anyway. Also, the negative, intrusive thought have decreased. Truly a scary drug when you wake up each morning wishing you were dead! Thank you for your response!
I had to stop Daliresp due to putting me in deep dark depression. Perhaps this was because of unrestful sleep as noted above. It and albuterol are two meds I do not want to ever use again. I quit contacting extended family while on Daliresp and didn't answer their messages when sent to me. Once I stopped Daliresp, I was able to get my old life back on track.
So glad to see this question on Daliresp surface. Perhaps it has been discussed before in another message thread but is an important one to tell new COPD/Bronchiectasis/Chronic Bronchitis patients.
I am somewhat relieved, but also concerned that you had to experience these side effects. I too had the same dark depression and could think of nothing else except wanting to die. Even prayed to my husband, who has been deceased for 5 years now, to please come get me. Then started mulling over the ways.........that's when I knew I was in trouble...when the thinking triggered the planning or how could I. Being a nurse with a strong psych background I knew the signs. Haven't even told my Pulmo yet. I do know that the night after I stopped the thoughts did too and I had the best nites sleep that I have had in 3 month! Keep well @tumanic and @dollover!
So glad you knew the cause of the effects. I noticed more depression and understood they were from daliresp. Same for the bad dreams, knowing the cause sure helps with dealing with the results.
I always research and look up any new medication that the Physicians put me on to be aware of the side effects, whether the medication will interfere with another medication that I am on or condition that I have. a good site to go to for this is http://www.Dailymed, as it is managed by NIH, http://www.Drugs.com is another great site that goes into great detail. My depression was so severe that it scared me that I may do something impulsive. In reading the literature depressed/suicidal tendencies were 1%-10% ratio as was insomnia, diarrhea, weight loss. That's a pretty significant occurrence rate. @dolllover and @tumanic stay well
