Positive vibes ONLY thread
POV: I’m often left stressed and scared after reading this forum. It occurred to me that most of the people posting here have had bad experiences and wonder if people who have good experiences aren’t on a forum? I was listening to a podcast and the person casually threw out that she had OP and had a year of a certain medication NBD all good. She’s not a spokesperson for drugs and it was good to hear. If 75% of women have osteoporosis/penia surely there are good results out there? My PT, Dr and my endo were all like why are you so upset? You’ll be fine! But after I spend time here I’m faced with gloom and doom and feel awful. Hit me with your good stuff!

Positivity so important...this site has helped me become educated about the different methods of treatment and has educated me on questions to ask. Doctors are busy people with a lot of patients; they prescribe what they feel is best for you, but they do not educate you on osteoporosis, what the Dexa scores mean, what is considered a good increase (just that you are "doing better"). Once I leave the doc's office and start researching on the internet is when I start understanding that there are questions that should be asked; different meds, weight training, PT, different tests, studies out there, etc. Never got any of this type if information from the doc as I didn't even know what to ask! I don't blame the medical profession; I am not their only patient. I have a Q&A appointment with my current endo today; I may get another opinion because the treatments for osteoporosis are very powerful drugs and very long term.
Please don't bow out. I found your post very positive! I love this site because of all the valuable discussions. Good news is always good to hear for balance. Yours was!
I'm on the Evenity journey, and it's this site that helps guide me. I have no issues and am excited to see my dexa/tbs in July. Will post results.
We have to remember. Most of us just complain to one another when things are bad. I myself only post when I need help understanding something, or have a question .Not many of us post when life is good, we are just getting back to living life. A positive thread would be a good thread to have for positive outcomes for us al. It would be nice to hear success stories: how soon side effects leave ,is there a chance for life without drugs.. ....But this is still a wonderful available site. I appreciate you all for posting.
Yay! Great to know you have no issues! I started fosamax and had zero issues- except jonesing for coffee once a week while I waited the 30 minutes.
@nannygoat5 I love your idea of a positive post!!! I've posted on other threads, but I was diagnosed 2 years ago, at 58. I'm active & thought I was healthy, so was shocked. My diagnosis kick-started a strength training & Pilates exercise program that I love. After a few months of Alendronate (I couldn't take it but had prior reflux issues & know lots of people, including my 84 yr old mom who take it with no problem!), I found a great NP at an Osteoporosis Clinic at a local teaching hospital who listens & presents options. She put me on Tymlos, which I've been on for 18 months with few side effects. I had a Dexa scan last week and I'm now in the Osteopenia range in my spine!!! My hips were already Osteopenia. I'm finishing this last month of Tymlos & then will get a Reclast injection. One of my friends in my workout today said she is about to get her 2nd Reclast injection, and had absolutely no side effects from her initial one.
Also thanks for the info about @gotbuffbones on Instagram - had never heard of her!
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
