Has anyone experienced incontinence after HOLEP surgery ?

I recently had HOLEP surgery at the end of 2024. One of my main issues nine weeks later is incontinence or leakage. Been doing kegels but it still persists. Has anyone else experienced this and for how long?

I am 4 months post HOLEP and my incontinence still persists. It is really bad in the morning when I start moving around after waking up. I walk 3 miles then do my pelvic floor exercises. I then take a shower change my diaper and am mostly good for the rest of the day with that 1 diaper. If I could figure out what is causing all the morning leaks I would be about 90% normal. When sleeping I wake up 2 times to empty my bladder and it works perfectly. Maybe a tablespoon of urine in my diaper. I will continue to walk and do my pelvic floor exercises and hopefully overcome the morning leakage so my wife and I can do some traveling.

I had HOLEP 3 years ago, very happy with the results. My prostate wasn’t causing high PSA scores, it was growing up into my b,adder which if left unchecked, could have caused urine to back up into my kidneys causing additional problems. I had a little incontinence right after the procedure, but it cleared up after about 5 weeks. I don’t have any problems with it today. I do take care to try and make sure all urine is vacated from the penis before walking away from the bathroom. And yes, I still get up 1-2 times a night to urinate. In light of what could have been the result had I chosen a different procedure, I don’t mind getting up to satisfy the urge.

I am now nearly 5 months post HOLEP. Just diagnosed with my 4th UTI post surgery. Never had a UTI prior to surgery. Urologist seems to think I am not voiding. I have an appointment Monday to check it out. My incontinence is now 95% gone. Tiny leaks every once in a while. It has been a tough 5 months. Now I have a referral to see a nephrologist. BUN was 38 2 days ago. Here we go again.

I see several posts mentioning PT (physical therapy, I assume?). What sort of PT do they have you do for prostate surgery. Is it tightening of the pelvic floor / sphincter muscles?
I had aquablation, so a different procedure to HoLep, however I still have mild urinary incontinence, almost 5 months after the procedure. So, wondering if PT would help, hence my question. Thanks.

Yes. Schedule the PT. You have nothing to lose and it could assist in the healing process and hasten it which is better than the leakage. Everyone heals differently but it could quicken the recovery.
