Musinex Changes E

The FDA has proposed that nonprescription drugs that contain phenylephrine be removed from pharmacy shelves. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant used in nonprescription cold products, such as Mucinex and Sudafed and other products, that the regulatory agency says is not effective.
I realize that the guaifensin is the main ingredient we seek .
I did use Musinex and the Walmart Equate Musinex. These products are no longer the same at my Walmart . I did not see any regular Musinex on the shelf . . I purchased the Equate Brand. It looks different. The pill is layered blue. It does not have the effect that it had before , less effective on lung
mucus . I had not taken the products for the nose congestion they claim it is ineffective at relieving. The formula of Equate Musinex For me , is no longer effective at decongesting nose or chest mucus . One article I read says the original formula Mucinex is still available at Walgreens and Rite-aid, so far . I have resorted to searching for guaifenesin.
I have tried some and ordered other brands of tablets . My BlueCross/Blue Shield Advantage Plan will not cover guaifenesin. I see that my OTC plan will not cover it either . ? Guaifenesin is not a prescription. Mucinex is the brand name which is rather expensive. Just buy guaifenesin by equate, guardian( Amazon) or other makers to pay less.
. You do not need mucinex D. Just mucinex to loosen secretions. There should be no difference in loosening mucus. Drink lots of water with it.

Yes, I am , as I said , getting my hands on some guaifenesin . My doctor wrote me a prescription for guaifenesin . It was to thwart the cost of Musinex. My insurance won’t cover it, not prescription or OTC. I have already tried one brand. It had side effects . Now I am using an herbal one , it is working well but is not time released . I take it every 4 hours. I have another brand of guaifenesin arriving today . Blessed Be, Crystalina
