Osteoporosis quite severe if I started hrt now will it help . I am 74
Any other woman of a similar age to myself with osteoporosis found hrt helpful quickly? I am just so scared of the other drugs. I have had no fractures yet but I feel they are imminent !!

I have not taken any meds yet even been prescribed and suggested by my endocrinologist for couple years already because of my fears that meds cause and dental issues. As of now my main concert is my spine with T-score -2.9 (I'm 63) and I strongly think about Forteo... I could start Timlos a year ago but refused I thought that supplements, working out in gym and osteostrong gym could help and now I regret that I missed a year. I know that Forteo is much longer on the market and been used more widely than Timlos?!
Best regards and best of luck to you too:))
best of luck!
I have a 63 year old sister who had very similar DEXA results to you 4 years ago and her endocronologist put her on Tibolone - a form of HRT - and she has seen an incredible improvement, especially in her spine, which went from a T score of -3.7 to -2,8 in the first 2 years. She has been told she can stay on it for life. I don't know why this isnt offered more often rather than going straight to the biosphonates which can only be used for a limited time anyway. I can't post a link on this site but search for GP notebook Tibolone and osteoporosis
It sounds like an interesting option. I see, though, that it is not yet available in the u.s. Darn!!
The Newson clinic in London does not recommend timeline. It is an older synthetic hrt and the recommended the newer body identical and much safer versions . Weighing up different doses of progesterone, Estriadol and testosterone until you find one that’s suits . In my case I found so far estriadol may not agree with me so will be trying the other two together .
Sorry text error not timeline but tibolone
Are you saying that you are scared of the drugs having tried them or not having tried them yet?
I wonder if vaginal estradiol also impacts the bones?
Yes, I have also wondered if vaginal estradiol can improve bone density.
No it doesn’t
