Are the drug protocols problematic?
With AFIB, should you first try cardio inversion? I have heard through research and from some doctors that the drug protocols are not very effective to manage AFIB. Also, due to other issues I am on a lot of medication now and have concerns with interactions.
The AFIB is creating a lot of shortness of breath and dizziness. The heart rate is elevated but the blood pressure intermittently drops to very low levels.
I have an appt with electro physiologist this week .

Unfortunately, been seeing a psychiatrist for close to a year and none of the anti depressant protocols have worked properly.
The Cardio Inversion was successful for 3 days , then, went back into consistent AFIB.
For those three days, I felt better than I had for a long time.
Yes, the anxiety is really bad, and I really do not have good medication options.
Going back into the Cardiologist Office in a couple of days to discuss next steps. The physical symptoms of the AFIB are very noticeable.
Your message reminds me of a TV ad for depression. A lady is at the doc office saying her drug was not helping. The doc says sometimes you need more than one. Then at bottom of the ad it says that if after taking the drug you feel like committing suicide to call your doctor!!!!
Just like my comments to those who have problems with afib, I always suggest eliminating all caffeine and to drink more water and eat your fruits and veggies and stop processed foods.
If you knew my background, you would understand that I have every reason for taking anti-depressants but I don't. Never have. Going through issues right now. Many reasons are from past bad decisions or just things that are thrown our way. We are not responsible for what happens to us, but how we respond to it. I believe in facing head on my problems. Walking can clear out the funk my mother used to say.
Eating too high a sugar diet can in itself cause depression from your blood sugar going up and down. A lack of peace can be caused by us doing or thinking things against God's rules. I go to church, confess my sins, and read the Bible for wisdom.
Perhaps an unconventional post, but some of our problems can be mental in that focusing and dwelling on things we need to sweep out of our head, or spiritual which means we need to talk to God, but not just that, listen to what He has to say which is all in God's word and limit our friends to those who lift us up and not drag us down or lead us in the wrong direction. I am not a run to the doctor person and entrust my wellbeing to a person who is taught to hand out drugs. God is the best counselor and doctor because He knows everything about you and can give you guidance in many many ways. Through friends, through knowledge of nutrition, and teaching you what advice is whacko and just plain dangerous.
Ultimately, we are responsible for every decision we make, what we throw down our hatch meaning mouth, who we spend time with and the consequences of all.
I hope that what I have said will ring bells for some. The rest can ignore.
I am also AF and was put on Sotolol. My doctor even suggested it wasn't THAT BAD and that I needed to go on an antipsychotic drug! I refused that bc people can't seem to get off of antidepressants plus the risk of suicide if you are already hitting bottom!!! The sotolol
made me nauseous, had poor kidney function, lowered my blood pressure and completely drained my energy. That combination of side effects made me depressed bc I've always been super active. I felt like dying was a better alternative than hardly functioning. My NEW doctor took me off of Sotolol plus lowered my blood pressure drug, verapamil to half. I feel much better even though I am still having AF & awaiting an ablation. My mother took Amriodrone and had horrible side effects such as shaking like palsy, falling down and changes to her vision. That all cleared when she stopped that drug. Drugs might work for some people but be honest with yourself. Has it helped you or made things worse? Then act accordingly bc Doctors really don't know how the illness and the drugs affect YOU. I've also learned that AF comes in various degrees of severity. Mine started with palpitations and rapid heartbeat and was misdiagnosed for 2 months bc it was intermittent. It became more severe and was finally diagnosed! Hopefully, the ablation works so that I don't have to take more drugs.
I have had AFib for nine years and was put on Sotolol 80mg which had no side effects but also didn’t take care of all the palpitations. One cardiologist told me to never increase the dose for Sotolol because it would cause fainting, etc. so I have remained on the 80 mg over the years. I finally had an ablation March 4th and am feeling so much better. There is a blanking phase after the ablation during which I had 5 episodes of palpitations while the heart is healing which is normal. Now I have my energy back and so far no palpitations - had a holter test and am getting the results in May. My surgeon said to stop the Sotolol in one month to see if I continue to not have palpitations - so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the ablation worked. Either way I recommend having the ablation. Take care.
