Intravascular lithotripsy
Has anyone had an intravascular lithotripsy? How did it go and turn out for you?

Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about intravascular lithotripsy????
I had laser atherectomy with stent placement six weeks ago and am recovering well. The procedure itself was fascinating, done using light sedation. What are your specific questions?
@santafepete and @christianzane as they have both mentioned intravascular lithotripsy on Mayo Clinic Connect as a potential treatment in the past.
@whyme2025, here is a good breakdown from an NIH study on intravascular lithotripsy:
"Best Practice in Intravascular Lithotripsy"
This article really gets into the weeds of what this procedure is and some of the outcomes of the procedure. It goes into great depth.
@whyme2025, is this a procedure that was suggested to you? Intravascular lithotripsy is a novel approach to lesion preparation of severely calcified plaques in coronary and peripheral vessels - is calcified plaques a diagnosis you are facing?
I had a triple bypass last April. Recently found out two of the three bypasses failed. Talking about doing an "LHC PCI with shockwave"....
Hi. Thanks for your info. Was your stent installation decided before the procedure, or once they went in and viewed that area?
I went in for diagnostic cardiac catheterization and the procedure was decided on during the catheterization.
I had laser atherectomy, apparently different from the procedure they are discussing with you.
