Pressure in the nose/ septum and front teeth that’s causing imbalance
Hi, there -
I have had ongoing issues with an intense pressure around my nose and in particular in the septum, right side of the bridge of nose and even into my front teeth. I have a headache with it maybe 10-20% of the time and it’s always in the same place… at the top of the bridge of the nose and into the right eyebrow.
The pressure affects my eyes, as it hurts to move my eyes and sometimes the pressure establishes in the very outer tips of my cheekbones and in front of my ears.
I have to pop my ears all day long and even through the night due to the pressure in them.
To me, the worst part is struggling with the imbalance constantly because of this pressure. It feels like someone is just pushing me to the side. At times, when I lie down, it feels as though I’m softly rocking on a boat. At its worst, I was dealing with vertigo that seemed to be triggered by position.
One odd thing to note is that I have had spasms in the bridge of my nose with this. A lot of them happened before it really manifested in the fall of 2023 and at times and on rare occasion after.
I’ve seen 8 ents but mostly all say it’s neurological. One ent did perform surgery in 10/2024 and it seems to help 25-30% but the main pressure has remained.
I have seen two neurologists. One said it was sinus and told me he couldn’t diagnose me. One said it was migraines and IIH about 10 months ago. I wasn’t so sure about migraines, as this did not present like a migraine but possibly IIH? I went to an optometrist and they checked my eyes and said my optic nerves were just fine. Therefore, I didn’t follow that neurologists treatment plan for the migraine and IIH DX. He had prescribed Topamax and I really didn’t want to start such a strong med not believing this was the issue.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am seeing another neurologist next month and am hoping do answers.
In total it’s been 15.5 months and this has affected my daily life, my job and my mental health a lot.
I am desperate for help and answers.

Musculature referred pan from neck, masseter, temporalis and jaw muscles. This tightness radiates to face, bridge of nose and teeth. Mimics sinus, migraine headaches.
Watch your lifestyle. Eye strain from phone, iPad etc… posture. Lack of movement for long period of times and stress. All muscle tension. Doctors don’t speak to this because they typically only treat “disease”. Steer clear from ENT, unnecessary meds etc….
You poor thing. It does sound like you have sinus or polyps issues. Have you tried anything like Flonase? Or breathing in steam?
Yup! I rinse twice a day with a Neil med bottle that has budesonide steroid in it and steam my face every single night for the past year. It’s crazy…
Thank you! After seeing 8 ents, I have decided to stop kicking the dead horse lol. I was not getting anywhere. I have been trying to massage neck. I will say when I massage it, it helps the pressure but doesn’t complete take it away and it’s only helpful in those few seconds. Not sure if I need chiropractic treatment? I’ve been thinking about this, just not sure what next steps are to address.
Yes Chiros are very helpful. Acupressure is very helpful.
Neilmed sinus works for me. Been using it 14 1/2 years. Got bacterial meningitis of my brain from chronic sinusitis may 2014.
Just to start, I am commiserating with you because we have similar symptoms. My imbalance is mainly only in short bursts of vertigo. I have fallen a few times, but I think it is not as severe. My pressure is focused around the tear ducts and areas you mentioned. Takes forever to pop my ears and I used neilmed twice a day for a year and I recently stopped because of how much time it took and how little it seems to have helped. (My original ENT had me put manuka honey in it which took forever to get done). Been on all types of antibiotics and one seemed to start helping, Clindamycin, but I was only given a dose for five days. The person that suggested that option had been on it for two weeks. My mind is so muddy that I cannot clearly express how difficult it is to deal with doctors. When dealing with doctors I usually blank on what to say and they steamroll me, and I leave feeling ignored and no better off. Come back in 3 months seems like the mantra of doctors and at this point I want to scream.
Recently, my doctor conducted a surgery to correct a deviated septum and reduce the turbinates. The same ENT wanted to do another surgery, but my insurance no longer covers the operating room where he works. So, I am covered for the ENT doctor, but not the location for surgery. Fun.
New ENT seems to have little information from the old ENT even though he was suggested by the previous. He finally took a sample to see if there is any infection, which no other doctor has done. This is also after two CT scans and one MRI which all just mentioned slight swelling. ENT mentioned that my passages around the eyes are narrow but do not appear obstructed in the scans. Other tests include two blood draws (because the system is ridiculous and since it was sent as two different requests the blood draw place would only do them one at a time). The blood test results were all relatively normal. I do have to take the doctors word on that because it is rather hard to parse the results without training.
I am losing my mind.
I have tried acupuncture (nothing really changed even though the experience was relaxing), and honestly... I am not willing to try chiropractic stuff because of all the information I have about the damage done to spines and necks. Family stories and reading about the malpractice in general of chiropractors. Not here to argue about the practice but just to mention that is not something I am comfortable trying. I recently did physical therapy because of the imbalance and their massage on the neck seems to have provided some relief. However, it is temporary at this point.
Been dealing with these problems for over a year now close to 14 months.
Hi @tiffiekitty. Didnt read all posts so hope this pertains. I have similar symptoms and found that after eliminating all lifestyle, diagnostic blood, ent scope, allergy ….food/activity diary found food histamine reactions that noted response of actual pressure, congestion, imbalance….. Hope this helped and quickest healing to you🌈
