Collagen for osteoporosis?
My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

Yes lol!
@patmacastclk, I'm wondering why you wouldn't take Forteo with Synthroid. I am taking Forteo with Tirosint which is a brand name for Levothyroxine like Synthroid.

1 ReactionJust make sure you supplement with whatever else you need as well for the collagen to work inside your body such as calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and K2, and vitamin C. Otherwise, the collagen alone won't do the trick. That's actually where I'm at. I'm reading a book entitled 'The Healthy Bones' Nutrition Plan and Cookbook by Laura Kelly and Helen Bryman Kelly and it's been extremely informative. Wishing you nothing but the best!

2 Reactionsso in agreement but totally depressed because despite Algaecal (just for half my daily requirements) walking w weighted vest standing to use laptop during day wt lifting (but not huge amounts per the LIFTMOR test from Austrailia) and lots of dairy my scores got a little worse past 2 .5 years femoral from 2.7 to 2.9 and total hip 2.2 or 2.4 or maybe that's the spine - anyway Dr said they're all 4-6 % worse and is really pushing the Evenity she wanted me on since 2020. It scares me I don't have perfect teeth for one thing. I read this past year about an operation Local Osteo Enhancement Procedure . I'd rather do this than take drugs Curious if anyone knows anything about it.

2 ReactionsWould you be kind enough to let this group know if you have an evaluation for this procedure and what you learn. I read a small explanation and wondered if it is only for femur and hip. Thanks

1 ReactionHello and thank you for your reply and questions.
I looked up Local Enhancement and it looks really interesting! This procedure looks like it could be used in many areas of bone loss to be able to get a jump start on growing more 'good' bone.
This is the first time I've heard of this..so I'll be looking more into it to see if there is anyone in my area that's dealing with this and offering it as a treatment. I don't know if Medicare would cover the procedure either..so more to learn here.
I agree with you..that dealing with a more holistic approach..rather then a medication that could have other contraindications for our particular physical bodies to deal with. This doesn't look like it has some of those concerns.
I wish you the very best and please keep us all updated on how you are doing..and what you did decide to do.
My very best to you...Bunky
