Collagen for osteoporosis?
My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

Did you have side effects with Evenity. I missed that.
There are apparently many types of breast cancer; some types are more estrogen dependent.
You should really consult with your oncologist about the appropriateness of HRT meds as a breast cancer survivor.
You might also search the Mayo connect postings under the name Windy Shores. She had been treated for breast cancer and could not take HRT.

2 ReactionsThanks. I will do that. I actually do have the estrogen kind tho unfortunately
It's funny the doctors are sort of mixed. That vaginal stuff that's so helpful, my oncologist was immediately like 'never use that again.' And yet my gyno at the time said she had a lot of women breast cancer patients who went back to it. Someone told me they thought maybe my oncologist had had a bad experience with a patient and that's why she was so anti even the vaginal stuff.
I also had read about something that sounded good, red sage clover. Some study in British Columbia said it was as good as fosomax and the rest. But when I looked it turned out to was a phytoestrogen like soy - I guess in a different way, because now the thinking is that's actually good for us -- and don't use if you have breast cancer. The thing I'm most interested in now is LOEP Local Osteo Enhancement Procedure. Maybe I'll make a separate page for people to disuss https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12035697/
No I did not try Evenity yet. The black box warnings terrify me and also I could need dental work at any time. The oral surgeon who did two implants (my only ones so far knock wood) told me "you've had a lot of good, expensive dental work in your past but that means they'll be dental work in your future." My regular dentist actually prefers Fosamax because he says it has a shorter half life, if something is wrong with your teeth you can just stop taking it.
I think this is interesting if we could get access to it LOEP Local Osteo Enhancement Procedure https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12035697/

1 ReactionThanks. I'm not such a meat eater is the problem (and may be the problem w osteoporosis too, i know some -like that Dr. Doug guy - think not enough protein is as bad as not enough calcium. (And some think protein the bad thing because it makes us acidic.)
I'm sending everyone who replies my other discovery but decided to make a special page for it too if there isn't one already Local Osteo Enhancement Procedure https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12035697/
Very interesting. Thanks 👍
This was a very small study - 12 women.
