Anyone had an ablation for lower back pain

I’ve had low back pain for 2 years. Pain injections did no good. Any good results with ablation

Yes, ablations work, for me it lasts about 5 months.

Lower back pain helped by taking vit b 1 & 2 😘

I had a RF Ablation last June; about as much relief as the back surgery a year before: none.

Saw in utube lower back pain is symptom almost always of vitamin b1&2 deficiency. Started using unfortified beers yeast and it's getting better everyday😘

After a car accident many years ago I had two back surgeries which removed lumbar discs 4 and 5. At that
time fusion was out of fashion. They simply dissolved the discs leaving gaps between the vertebrae. Afterwards
it progressed to degenerative disc disease. Pain was serious and progressive. I was lucky to find a doctor who preforms X-Ray guided radio frequency ablation. I get the shot every 6 weeks. Sometimes the relief is so
great I almost jump off the table. The procedure has given me a better life and much more ability to do things
I could not have done before. I know nothing will forestall the progress of aging and all the changes we know that brings. I highly recommend thorough investigation of the clinic/doctors offering any pain therapies.
When my doctor moved farther away from me I tried two different clinics. I only went one time to each.
Pain therapy is big business and not all practitioners are created equal. Good luck to everybody!

I’ve had this done twice on my lower back. It gave me my life back. Prior 15 years I’ve tried many things. Injections, trigger point . Then major surgery,
a fusion, next taking the hardware out thinking my body was rejecting it, next three different times having pain stimulators implanted, but they always navigated to the other side. Neuropathy stimulator for foot from big surgery. Lots of morphine, injections, finally an ablation. First one lasted about 18 months second one it’s been a little over 2 years. It’s time again.
No side effects.

Can you explain what is the Term “ ablation”
I’m suffering from Lowes back pain due to a falling straight to the ground hitting my lumbar bone very hard., as resulting L3 shifted to the front and my lumbar bone was truncated and I’m suffering with bad pain, bad posture, cant stand straight and both legs are hurting and left foot is hurting a lot!!!! Need some advice please.
God Bless you on Holly Tuesday 💜

An ablation deadens the nerves so the pain doesn’t go to your brain. Sounds like you need to go to an orthopedic doctor.

Do the nerves grow back? Is this why repeat ablation is needed? I am working with a good pain Dr. here in Atlanta area. I did call Mayo today on their program.

I think the nerves do grow back. I had an ablation June 2024 at Mayo and still ok. Made a difference as experienced after each of the two “test” injections. Had my right hip replaced (traumatic fall) 2019 not at Mayo—near where I fell so and I do have pain and some issues. Never sure of which issue causes the pain.

Before the ablation I had 3 (at once) trigger point injection. Helped a lot!

I had one done yesterday! I love them!
After it was done yesterday, I felt the effects immediately. The numbing shots may have been part of that immediate result. I was so grateful I started tearing up. I hope no one noticed at the pain clinic! It was such a blessed relief.
The nerves do grow back. I get as many as I can, as frequently as I can. I think you have to wait 3 months? I was in such pain it hurt to be awake. Moving, standing was torture. Now, I feel 20 to 30 percent of what I felt before the procedure. I actually don't move well now, because it took so long to have my other medical issues get out of the way. My pain clinic has rules - no antibiotics, prednisone, aspirin, etc. I think it has been 6 to 9 months since my last one before yesterday. I have a good doctor too. I wish you the best!

A nerve ablation is when the tip of the nerve causing the pain is burned of with a laser, I think it's a laser. I lay face down on the table with my lower back exposed. I go to a pain clinic. They clean and numb the area, attach wires to a machine that shows the inside of my lumbar area, and use a laser to do the job. It helps me incredibly.
I read from someone else to check out the doctor and facility. Yes! But I always do that. I worry. I am fortunate. Where I go, I have been going for 6 years. They know their stuff!
You are your own best advocate. I know that's difficult when you're in pain. I have trouble concentrating and sometimes caring. Nobody knows you better than you. Learn, research, call, ask a lot of questions. That's my advice.
I am so sad to hear about your pain. Take care of yourself. You are worth it.
