I hope you’ve been able to begin treatment. Best of luck with it. Was the cancer found by a biopsy? I’m scheduled for one and trying to obtain information about it.

Good luck to you, Brenda. Is it day surgery provided there aren’t complications? I’ve been smoking too, my anxiety is beyond description. Did you speak with the interventional radiologists that will be doing the biopsy? I can’t even get cooperation with that but did speak with a nurse. I wonder if the possible complications were explained to you? It scares me so much. My COPD is severe, what level are you dealing with? I’ll be thinking of you & please let us know how it goes. Positive thoughts for you!

Yes it is one day surgery .I have severe COPD I am on oxygen 24/7.I haven't talked to anyone about the complications but I read it can cause a pneumothorax They keep you in the hospitial
for 2 or 3 hours to be sure you are ok

I have lung cancer as well as COPD and emphysema. I have I have had several biopsies in the last two years. They give you general anesthesia and put you to sleep so you’re not gonna quit breathing or anything, actually I was never afraid of the biopsies much more afraid of the lung cancer. I was also an ICU nurse for 27 years so I guess that gives me a little knowledge about knowing when to really be afraid or not. You should be fine

I have melanoma, operated on in 2022. Since then they’ve been watching lung nodules grow in each scan. Now, the largest one is 11mm. There are several smaller ones as well. My oncologist wants me to have the biopsy but everything I’ve read shows it to be much more risky with COPD. Being an ICU nurse I’m sure you’ve likely seen people who had problems following a lung biopsy. Yes, I’m very nervous about it given the risks. I’m wondering if a bronchoscopy would be an alternative? I’m so nervous that I started smoking again! Anything further you could share would be great.

I go to my lung dr Tuesday to find out the results I had a pneumothorax I stayed in the hospitial for 4 days I still feel bad what made it bad was the fact the dr that did the biopsy went in the wrong lung so I had a bad day in surgery. You'll probably be ok if your dr goes in the wright lung and you don't have a pneumothorax I hope everything goes good for you prayers for you

I’m sorry to hear this. It sounds like a terrible thing happened and then the pneumothorax which I’m sure is very painful and upsetting. Prayers that your results will be good on Tuesday when you see your doctor. I feel very bad for what happened to you which is my fear of happening as well. Please keep me updated on what your doctor has to say. In the meantime I sincerely hope you start feeling better, it must be painful. Take care of yourself.
