Vaginal Dryness Solutions

Posted by leesal123 @leesal123, Nov 25, 2022

Good Evening! Question for all, I was taking anastrozole for ADH diagnosis but had to stop because of side effects. I am left with extreme vaginal dryness and atrophy thanks to the med and menopause. What do people use to help? My doctor( GYN and breast surgeon in agreement) has prescribed a low dose vag estrogen cream( pea size 3 x a week), but I need something topical too for the in between days. I am overwhelmed by the choices on the market and the whole trial-and-error process. Also trying to find one that is paraben free and properly pH balanced. I wish there was a vitamin one could take to solve the discomfort! ugh. 🙂 Please know I am not looking for medical advice, just trying to find out what is out there and what has worked for some. I just stare at the aisle in the store and online pulls up so many options. I have been very frustrated. I figure women need to talk about this kind of stuff to get help.

My gynecologist recommended Revaree plus from Bonafide. No hormones. A little expensive, but it work for me.

I was afraid to use any estrogen-based products following my lumpectomy. My urologist recommended applying a pea-sized amount of Kirkland Organic Virgin Coconut Oil to my vagina several times a day as well as taking 6 Desert Harvest Aloe Vera capsules daily . That was several years ago. Since then I have modified both: I apply coconut oil each morning and have reduced my intake of the aloe vera capsules to 1 daily. I have no vaginal discomfort and haven’t even had a hint of a pink stain since that time.
.
I don’t know what role the aloe vera capsules play in vaginal dryness. They are pricey, for sure. My internist is skeptical, saying there is no proof of their value. Even though I’m taking a reduced amount than was originally recommended, I’ve been reluctant to eliminate them completely because I’m so happy with the results. Certainly coconut oil is the major player.

My oncologist is now okay with vaginal estradiol. It does not get into the bloodstream supposedly. I just started. I was using Revaree which helps but not enough. I also use PRVNT for the bladder. I have to use Hoo-ha Ride Glide when I ride a bike

For the bike, I wear my husband's bike shorts. They are super-padded.

Well there are supplements which you can try, pregnenolone and or dhea. They pull some major levers in the body that are connected to hormone production, and you really have little control over what the body does with the supplement or how the hormones which it may produce are produced and then if they convert to different hormones. But I know at least 2 women who use the supplements as their HRT/BHRT, and it works well for them.
I did try both pregnenolone and dhea, but even a small amount had major impacts for me. I did love the deeper sleep with the pregnenolone gave me and its side effect of carving out any abdominal fat (probably the high level of testosterone which I was producing), but the anxiety side effect was impossible for me.
My husband takes about 30 mg of pregnenolone a day and my hormone dr also uses pregnenolone.
I am tempted to try pregnenolone again; age changes how the body reacts and I am older now.
Right now I use estriol/testosterone topically, progesterone topically and an estriol vaginally with hyaluronic acid vaginally also.

I found the answer for me. Bonifide revere was recommended by my gynecologist. She gave me a code for a discount. I have been using it and it has totally solved all issues. No estrogen in it at all. Just natural substance. I swear by it. Good luck to you.
