Has anyone had a complete remission after taking Cabozantinib?

My mother has advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma. She had a Kidney Tumour back in 2019, and has done robotic partial nephrectomy. Then in 2022 she did a follow up scans, and found out that there were some multiple nodules in her lungs. She began treatment in July 2023, with Pembrolizumab + Lenvatinib, but the results is not that good. The cancer is resistant with Pembrolizumab. So now in 2024, she is undergoing treatment with Cabozantinib 40mg. After took 2 bottles of Cabozantinib, some nodules were disappeared and some are smaller. May I know if anyone here has the same treatment with my mother? If yes, can it helps to get a complete remission?

@rivhanwinardi, that is a great result for your mom. How is she doing?

Thanks @colleenyoung. She's doing well now. Although the doctor said my mom still needs to continue with Cabozantinib. I just wanted to ask, have you ever heard of anyone achieving complete remission with Cabozantinib?"

Wonderful to hear your mother's results! We are just starting Cabo at 20mg. No real side effects so far. Supposed to go to 40mg, but concerned over side effects.

How did your mom tolerate the 40mg?

My mother has experienced some side effects, including elevated liver function, take Euthyrox 100mg, and leg pain. However, she has been able to tolerate these side effects so far. Her doctor has advised her to take Cabozantinib from Monday to Friday and take a break on weekends. Wishing you the best of luck! @debet

@rivhanwinardi, that question is beyond my ability to answer. Have you asked your doctor about the possibility of remission as related specifically to your mom's circumstances?

My doctor mentioned that some of his patients have achieved remission from kidney cancer, though not many—just a few cases. Do you know of anyone who has experienced complete remission from kidney cancer stage 4? Also, could you tell me who the top kidney cancer oncologists in the U.S. are?
