New to group
New to this group. Hello! I have learned a few things from other conversations. I have chronic facial pain and most medications make it worse or add on a headache. Also struggling with anxiety for about the same time. Most anti-depressants make my eye hurt worse. Any others out there with the same issues? Neurology has done all the can...

Hello @olivia52 Welcome to Connect and nice to e-meet you! I'm Scott and I was the caregiver for my wife during her 14 year battle with brain cancer.
I am sorry for your medical challenges and can only add one thing. Based on how long it took the doctors to finally ease my wife's pain and anxiety, I would suggest keep checking with specialists. Don't give up! There are some great doctors out there who specialize is super-special areas and may be able to offer help

Hello @bigred80 and @olivia52
Welcome to Mayo Connect. I'm sorry to hear of your facial pain. I see that bigred80 has already posted in the group Trigeminal Neuralgia.
The only experience I have with it is through my husband. He has rhinoplasty and sinus surgery four years ago and was left with numbness and pain in his face. He too was told he would need to learn to live with it.
@olivia52 here is a link to the group. Wishing you both the best.

I was just at Mayo and asked 3 doctors at Mayo how to get certified by a physician to purchase legal medical cannabis in MN. One doctor responded to me that there are no Mayo physicians involved.

Nancy Shermoen~
I tried medical marijuana with more cbd than thc and it works for my pain better than opioids and take the spray oil under the tongue once in the morning and evening 5 sprays each time
more information I talked with my dr. yesterday about medical marijuana she said it wouldn't help my facial pain??? I didn't know if she was giving me the truth or she just couldn't prescribe it for me ?? any help out there on the subject??? if so did it help ?
I had the same conversation with my Mayo doctors and it seems that Mayo does not prescribe cannabis.....but they are attempting to do more research on it. They KNOW that the research in other countries, such as Italy, is very positive; however, the research is even difficult here in the USA because of our laws....ugh. You may want to take a trip to Colorado!!!! Try it out!
You won't know until you try it. Results are very individual. I use a balm that is effective anywhere I apply it.Nancy Shermoen~
Absolutely go to CO and try it out!Nancy Shermoen~
