My name is Jaime and I am 48… I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease in March 2024… Due to alcohol… I started my transplant process at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida in August 2024… My MELD score is 26 and I have been on the transplant waiting list since Dec 2024… I thought my MELD score would go down after a year of absolutely no alcohol but that’s not the case… I have a sick liver and need the transplant… I hope to get a match soon!!!!!

I wish you get a new liver soon I remember the wait period plus quality for one physically and mentally as I found out later the mental health afterwards was way more important I have one hundred percent partner along the journey, 2 years later and my family is not what I thought they were . I noticed that people will judge you and accuse you why you had a transplant ignore them, funny thing is they won’t ridicule for a heart transplant so I stay quiet and got rid of most of what I thought were my friends I hope this doesn’t happen to you. My team of doctors were top of the line and yours will be too I wish for great success and being patient and staying positive is the healthiest way to approach this

Hang in there, Jaime. It will happen, most likely when you least expect it!
