Getting an appointment at Mayo Clinic

Posted by bevie24 @bevie24, Mar 23 2:24am

I have submitted the form to get an appointment at Mayo Clinic (3) times. I’m contacted by phone each time. We review my symptoms I’ve been suffering with for one year and multiple test results that diagnose Mesenteric Panniculitis, and then the Mayo Clinic representative tells me they are not scheduling any appointments for 2025 and there is no wait list.. Ughhh! Has anyone else been told this??

It is frustrating when unable to schedule an appointment with a provider at Mayo or anywhere. You may want to look at the following discussion in Visiting Mayo on same topic:

Sounds like your doing self-referral, have you talked to your current provider about doing a referral?

I did ask my current gastro dr at Penn State Hershey (PA) and he told me to get a referral from my PCP, which I have not yet done..thanks for the suggestion

I tried to get an appointment with Mayo for five years. Finally one day I called to see if I could make an appointment with an ENT for an ongoing ear infection. Fortunately I was able to get an appointment. Wonderful, caring and professional doctors and staff. The Mayo in our area is almost an hour's drive but well worth it.

Keep being persistent and don't give up. Good luck.

So glad to hear that you were successful! I had a referral to John’s Hopkins, sent all of my test results, imaging. When no one reached out to me, I called to make sure my test results were received and they said they did get them, but they do not have any drs that treat mesenteric panniculitis! I was surprised by that..

That is very disappointing to hear. I just left my gastroenterologist office and after five years he feels that I need a total colectomy. He wants to schedule me for consult in Minnesota. I was scheduled in 2021 in Boston but was terrified to do it. I might be ready now but no appointments for this year. Oh boy this is awful. Took me 5 years to decide. I’m so sorry for you.

I have been sick with nausea for six years. The last year has been unbearable. I have gone to multiple drs and specialists and they can’t figure it out. I have a spinal cord injury and am disabled so being ill has just made me so weak and worse. I have tried to make an appointment at Mayo for years and this year I have tried multiple departments. I kept getting denied. I have finally got an appointment with neurology, which I’m not sure is the problem but maybe from there they can help me get into a different department if needed. It always lead back to Gastro with the nausea and no they are not taking appointments. For a organization that says they can help people, especially people that have unusual, undiagnosed illnesses you would think you should be able to get in there.

I’m sorry to hear about your health journey. Researching, making appointments, going to appointments, having tests done and no answers over and over really wears you down. It’s a full time “job”

I have daily nausea and it’s awful. I’ve been told it’s Dyspepsia. No cure.

April, 2025. Yes, I was just told the same thing. Appt person suggested I work with my local dr. My local dr is great, but she’s never heard of Mesenteric Panniculitis.
