Hi John, yes, I've seen a couple of Nuerologist but my problem started in 2008 with burning pain and numbness in my buttocks, both legs, and left. Had two lumbar laminectomy over the years that corrected most of my pain with the exception of burning pain and numbness in my left food. My Neutologist thinks I have a biomechanical problem in my left foot. Tomorrow I'm going to see an orthopedic doctor at our local University Health Department. I have orthodistts that doesn't help my pain and I take Gabapentin and a topical cream that helps the pain. Just thought I'd see if anyone here has anything like mine. Thank you John. Bob
I have neuropathy in my feet, calves, and hands. I take gabapentin but it doesn't do much. I also had a laminectomy in left side of my back due to leg cramping and seizing up and causing excrutiating pain. It didn't helpmy leg. It went more numb or dead as I call it because it really is dead. Plus, before I had that surgery, they tried a shot, which didn't work and caused my right calve to die also. Now its in my hands. I don't know what to do, it's just getting worse. I feel I will eventually be in a wheel chair. Doctors just give meds with and tell you to cut out sugars. It's unbelievable there is no real help here. I am in Wyoming.

Do you have a good neurologist near by? You say you live in Wyoming. I live in Denver now where doctors of all specialties are available, but I have lived in Colorado's "outback" where that was not the case. Having wandered Wyoming many times, I know that you may be faced with a situation similar to what I faced when I lived out on the Colorado plains.
I'm using a TENS unit from Oxiline.com. I am taking MediNox.pro, which is a nitric oxide booster for increased blood flow to peripheral areas. You might want to google EB-N6 supplement. Keep walking every day in spite of the pain. Go barefoot in the house. Don't sit on bar stools due to decreasing blood flow to your legs. I also take OPC3 from shop.com. Been taking it 20+ years for small vessel increased blood flow - it works well. I also take their Multivitamin and B-Complex. Go to Isotonix and check them out. I put my feet in a red-light belt most nights for 20 minutes - Amazon has a lot of them for $65. All this has greatly relieved my symptoms. Lace up shoes are the enemy. Compression sleeves around your ankles help - Amazon. My best. Keep searching....
My neuropathy isn't as bad as yours but I have found little help from the medical field, even from the neurology people. I take gabapentin and it helps somewhat. My balance is bad and my legs are weak. I just started PT and hope it helps strengthen my legs. I don't understand the lack of support from the medical people. Good luck with everything. I wish you well.

It sounds like you need to do a little research to find a neurologist that works with neuropathy. I had to do that because I wasn't getting real answers. All the doctors kept saying that they had no knowledge to help me. I went to several Neurology associations to get a list of neurologists in my area. I found a great neurologist and accepted that I have to travel outside my area.
My new neurologist got a comprehensive history of my family and my history of my problem then did new tests before prescribed a medication that has been very effective in relieving my pain.

Thank you for responding. Right now I'm going to PT to try to strengthen my legs. The therapist has been very supportive which has been great. I'll see how my neurologist works out.
Hi @rabbit10 and welcome to Connect! I want to connect you with @martid, and @grandma41 who have both recently written about peripheral neuropathy. They both had different causes of their diagnosis and can discuss their experiences with you.
How long have you been dealing with peripheral neuropathy?
I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in the last 12 months by a neurologist. He indicated about the only thing that could help me with gabapentin, which I refuse to take. I'm 76 years old and especially after going to bed at night, primarily my left leg, and foot get very hot and feel numb. One of my daughters who is a doctor, DC, has told me about something called ozone therapy. Is anyone here familiar with us as a possible treatment for peripheral neuropathy.

You need to see a good neurologist to totally manage your neuropathy.

I have had peripheral neuropathy for several years. Wanting to know if anyone has had your diagnosis turned into CIDP which is a look alike of MS.

Welcome @wbmillis, There is another discussion that mentions ozone therapy that you might find helpful - Has anyone tried Ozone High Dose Therapy for Nerve Pain?: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/has-anyone-tried-ozone-high-dose-therapy-for-nerve-pain/.
