D-Mannose for frequent bladder infections
D-Mannose capsule with vitamin C gives me pains in stomach and loose stools. I need name of USP approved maker of the powder form so that I can break the dosage down to several times a day so that I don’t get this side effect. Also where can I buy it because can’t find Pharmacies or GNC that carry D-Mannose, I had to order on line the first time I tried it and don’t know if it’s a reliable company.

I buy my NOW brand D-Mannose from Amazon. I take 1 tsp per day mixed with water - I take it after dinner. There are no other additives such as Vit. C, etc. It is cheaper to order online thru Amazon as opposed to buying at any store.

- Can D-Mannose Treat or Prevent UTIs? https://www.healthline.com/health/d-mannose-for-uti
In summary:
"More research needs to be done, but D-mannose appears to be a promising nutritional supplement that may be an option for treating and preventing UTIs, especially in people who have frequent UTIs. Most people who take it don’t experience any side effects, but higher doses may cause health issues yet to be discovered.
Talk with your doctor about appropriate treatment options if you have an active UTI. Although D-mannose might help treat a UTI for some people, it’s important to follow medically proven methods of treatment to prevent the development of a more serious infection."
D-Mannose has been a blessing. I use Swanson brand and rarely have had a bladder infection while using it.
D-Mannose in POWDERED form has been Life changing! I went from having UTI's almost every month and becoming anti biotic resistant to being UTI free for the last 14 months while on D-Mannose in POWDERED Form. Capsule form is not effective. Cranberry juice is useless. For an acute UTI: I take 1 teaspoon rounded (2000+ mg) every 2-3 hours with 1/2 cup of water, for 5 days. Yes, you need to wake up throughout the night to take your dose. Taking higher doses may cause diarrhea. Wait for 45 minutes to an hour. Then, drink plenty of water in order to flush out the bladder and get rid of E-Col. Then reduce the frequency to a Preventive Dose of ½-1 teaspoon (I take 1 rounded tsp) one to two times a day for long term maintenance. Take D-Mannose as early as possible when you first notice symptoms, before the UTI fully develops. Why in the world is D-Mannose in powdered form not recognized by the medical community as the cure that it is!!! Remember, ONLY take D-Mannose in POWDERED form! I buy PURE D-MANNOSE or NOW brands in bulk from Amazon.
Swanson sells D- Mannose in pill AND powdered form. I doubled my dose of pills with no improvement so it sounds like I should get the powder instead. I also agree about the cranberry -- even straight cranberry pills were no help.
I am new on this site so my apologies for duplicating my comment above. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to use D-Mannose ONLY in powdered form. I buy it in bulk on Amazon. I do not even know why they bother to market it in pill form. I'm sure you will have success with this. My journey with UTIs has been far too long and it should not have been.
Can you mix it in juice? Thanks in advance.
For fans of D-Mannose, why not mix powdered D-Mannose into cranberry juice (can’t hurt, might help)? Also if you scroll up in this discussion to August 28, 2020 there are many helpful links to information on this topic posted by @colleenyoung (Mayo Clinic Connect Director).
