Anyone take Adderall to help with long covid symptoms?
I have had long covid twice now since 2021. It may have just never went away and got worse when I got covid again.
I have tried antidepressants for the severe depression and nervous system, but my body does not react well to SSRI or SNRI. Has anyone tried aderall ? Does it work? Long term steroids are not the answer but I felt so good for weeks until I hit a wall with them. So thinking adhd med might help. Any thoughts?

I take Dextroamphetamine because I was diagnosed with in ADD 30 years ago. The one thing I learned is you still need to pace because it is so easy to push out of the envelope. You feel so good; you want to do more activities.
I had several days that I overdid it because I felt rested and I did more than my usual schedule. I went back to resting. So I follow my usual energy conservation and enjoy being able to concentrate and do things within my
limits. I hope this helps.

1 ReactionI also take antidepressants. My psychiatrist prescribed adderall to help my focus through brain fog and exhaustion. I am prescribed three a day. I take one in the morning so I head into the office with some level of clarity. If a have a busy afternoon of intense meetings, I’ll take a second one at noon.
I think I get a couple hours where I can focus more, but it’s hard to say. How I wake up and my energy levels and mental capacity sets how I manage my day and schedule. Sometimes I need a can of Monster to plow through
It helped me. I'm glad people are talking about it.
I had covid Feb. 2020 and had long covid symptoms for two years. My main problem was fatigue and although I'm a regular exerciser I couldn't train. My body wouldn't respond correctly --I couldn't sustain an elevated heart rate up--oxygen wasn't moving around my body. A year ago I was diagnosed with ADHD and started vyvance. After a day or two I took my first deep breath in years. I could exercise again and was back to my normal routine, but in the last few weeks, after cataract surgery, the fatigue and inability to exercise have returned even though I'm still on the drug. I wonder if the surgery woke up the virus?

2 ReactionsYes, I have also been diagnosed with gastroparesis. I take Reglan twice day which stimulates gastric motility. I also eat several smaller meals per day which makes it easier to digest foods. And I have to stay away from high fat foods which are harder to digest. BTW my symptoms were severe, intractable nausea and I was hospitalized twice before they finally figured out I have gastrparesis.
I am a medical provider and work urgent care. I had covid 3 times and began having issues with memory and organization of patients while working as well as extreme sleepiness
I asked my PCP to try Adderall; reluctantly he did because my only other option was to go on disability. I also struggled with energy, motivation and depression which none of these were me before covid. Being on Adderall 30mg am and pm have improved me back to about 70-80% of how I was before covid. I still have the issues listed above but not as bad and I know have the motivation to live again.

2 ReactionsColleen: Thanks for the link to this article; very helpful. I'm finding it tempting to try stuff that has worked for others, but I'm very sensitive to drugs and don't want to risk side effects/ unpredictable results. Waiting for research to come up with something for LC patients that's been tested and proven to be helpful without reasonable risk of further harm. I think we're all becoming pretty frustrated and impatient with the lack of real help... two and a half years for me and it feels like eons ...
