Incontinence and pain in hands?

Hello @txgma and welcome to Connect. I found your post to be very interesting. This points to the fact that we are all so different in how our bodies react to changes and infections.

If you are comfortable sharing more, I would be interested in knowing more about the burning sensation in your hands. Was it on the top of your hands or was it an all-over burning sensation?

I have had a similar sensation in my hands while urinating in a hurry. It’s more of a burning feeling in my hands for me; not so much pain. It usually goes away by the next day and then I forget about it because it may be a couple of years later when it reoccurs. Odd sensation, and I sometimes wonder what causes it, too.

I’m the same. Years ago I had a lot of uti and when I peed my fingers burned with pain. Same, Drs thought I was nuts. Now I’m 68 and I have a uti and my who body burns with pain. I feel it even in my chest & feel a bit nauseous. I have Sensory Peripheral Neuropathy and I’ve read that there’s a nerve connection because of the nerve condition I have. It’s horrible but finally an answer for me. Do you have any neuropathy?

You may have early signs of Neuropathy. Tingling numbness in your fingers or feet.

I have had burning pain in my fingers when I have a uti for years. Now at 68 and it’s my whole body. I have Neuropathy & I think there’s a connection with the nerves. Finally I have a bit of an answer but I have to read more. Do you have Neuropathy? It can be common with Diabetes.

Have you seen a neurologist for neuropathy blood panel and EMG/nerve conduction studies? Have you had a skin punch biopsy for small fiber neuropathy? Are you diabetic?

Small and large fiber neuropathy can definitely cause many issues and symptoms. It is important to diagnose/treat cause ASAP to prevent further progression. Some is due to diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, toxicities, drinking alcohol, autoimmune issues, etc.

Another issue to consider is cervical myelopathy which is a compression injury of spinal cord that affects a lot below the neck. It can affect arms/hands (pain/weakness/numbness), handwriting, walking, bladder, etc.

I too, have very painful finger pain when urinating, but it only happens with a UTI. My UTI's come on fast and furiously. The urethral pain and spasm start at the same time the fingers become painful, just at the end of a small amount of urination. From a twinge to full-blown onset of pain, bleeding and fever can be as short as 2 hours. I figured I'm the only one in the world who might be experiencing this, so I thought I'd ask Google. I'm glad I did!

UTIs are so unpleasant! Have you tried any longterm antibiotic therapy or some of the newer products on the market to prevent UTIs such as Uqora?

Thankfully, my Urologist let's me have refills of Bactrim and Pyridium as needed. I have air in my bladder and I believe he suspects a tiny fistula. I have not tried any long term abx or preventatives. Even short term abx throw my gut microbiome for a loop. Thanks for your response!
