Intermittent fecal/sulfur breath odor
After scouring the web, I'm certain I'm not the only person with this problem, and not the only person who's been told they were imagining it. Anyway, the issue is I have intermittent odors when I talk (yes, I've been to the dentist 10+ times-- all say my oral hygiene is on point and xrays and inspections showed nothing). The only time it's practically non-existent is when I eat an unhealthily low-carb diet. Like others online, I've had CT scans, Barium swallows, endosocopy/colonoscopy, screening for parasites (getting one more from an IDS before crossing that off my list). All showed up negative. I tested positive for SIBO, but after researching that for the past 3 years, I'm certain SIBO is more of a symptom than a primary causal problem. Furthermore, even when I treated SIBO with heavy antibiotics, it did absolutely nothing for my breath-- and yes I was cleared of SIBO after a couple rounds of work. yet, the moment I eat carbs, I still get a "did someone just s*it themselves?" comment.
I guess what I'm getting at is I'm tired of doctors just saying it's IBS and SIBO and then proceeding to do zero investigating afterwards. I want to get down to the root cause of this, but most doctors are either too apathetic or too incompetent to do anything. Are there any researchers who specialize in studying and diagnosing hard to find problems in the GI tract? Between the 3 GI docs, 2 ENTs, 2 NDs and 1 IDS, I just can't take normal doctors anymore. I want my life back and I want a specific root cause so I can work on progressing from there.
Further notes: Diarrhea actually cleared up when I ate junk food and I had zero bloating, albeit the odor remained.
Xifaxan and neomycin did nothing for the odor, nor did the elemental diet. I actually think the elemental diet made the smell as bad or
worse than before.
*******Nitazoxanide********** worked wonders for the month I was on it. Solid stools even with foods that normally cause my ibs to flare up.
It's exactly the reason I felt there was more going on to everything than just SIBO and IBS.

i have a bad taste occasionally. so i use a swish of peroxide let it bubble up, and also brown original listerine mouthwash. a tongue scraper too. i haven't worried too much about toothpaste i mean no anything particular. i think baking soda peroxide combination might be helpful.
I have that it is hell.
1st try to find a Sibo diet it helps alot. Eliminate all the sugars and fake alcohol sugar. Those feed the bacteries. Bread and pasta is no go. I try a small amount of white rice. Something that digest quickly.
I diagnosed myself with coeliac disease. It runs in the family. But my parents had no idea. My mom just knew she just couldn't eat specific things or it would get her sick. Father is separated and just eat junk food. I think it is my main issue. It flares up a while after eating. Especially carbs. It gets worse if I eat meat. Not the stomach just the overall smell.
I tried
Berberine. I read it helps fight sibo. But cannot confirm it.
Turmeric it helps me against the inflamation and reflux.
Bismuth In peptobismol I hate Bismuth but it seems it help diminish the smell. But not for long.
The coeliac disease will make your oral health a problem especially for starchy food. And everything with alcohol sugar. Stay away from those chips some even contain sugar.
I tried to use whiskey to kill all those bacterias. That doesn't work and makes it far worse. Don't drink at all it is transformed sugar it will make it worse.
I do also have post nasal drip. And for me it is all season.
For some unknown reason if I smell like foul odors and it is raining or there is alot of humidity. The smell will stay in my lungs or something. Ppl told me I smell like so many different things and they are all bad. Everything I smell stay in my lungs or something. I will try high power nasal rinse. I am already doing the normal one each day. Maybe something with medication should help.
I am tired of hospital and doctors. They prescribe and good riddance and it never work.
So my plan is stopping every high carbs like bread pasta. Only eating small berries. Pineapple is a berry too. It has bromeline that help against my acid reflux. Eating lots of protein without red meat because too smelly.
Need to drop pounds. No more starch and sugar. Also leafygreens with high fiber is a bad idea. Find a sibo diet.
Found out cant drink coffee or it flares up sibo. Probably because it contains bacteries and mold. It is also an irritant for the stomach. Only tea, and water. Diet cola is probably OK. But only 1 a week. It neutralize your digestive acid.
Brushing teeth after each meal is a big one. Along with floss. I try to floss then swish avocado oil in my mouth. I find it more natural then coconut oil. Because the coconut oil might also react with the bacterias and give out that vomit smell. Put coconut oil on your scalp and tell me how it smells. Sibo is the same. Everything you eat has a smell. And it will stain you for hours and hours if you eat it. And high fructose fruit is also a nono. Try a fresh avocado. The smell is mild.
Ohh my so I tried hydrogenperoxide swishing in my mouth yesterday after brushing flushing all the shebang. It helped with the breath by alot. So far so good. I also took tumeric 3 times at work. And i never eat at work. Just water all day. Gonna try the chlorophyll tomorrow.
Hope everyone have a go at it. I think chlorophyll is a good plus too. Take care ppl.
So I cannot edit if it has been too long. I wanted to say I am starting to understand the whole SIBO problem in it's entirety.
First the sibo is too many bacterias that give reflux and like me also can bring bloat and discomfort. I had metan sibo for pass 10 years. And now I move to a new home with well water and that water has hydrogen sulfur bacterias. So ofcourse my sibo change to sulfur. I got soo bloated the first week I thought I was going to die. Took some apple cider vinegar and that helped I was able to belch. It is from that I could piece all my problems and determinate I had SIBO. It was really enlightening.
Lets get to the put the " blocks together" part.
Sibo is influenced by all the bacterias in your environment. So if you take too long to brush or you haven't changed or cleaned your toothbrush it will affect your mouth and then stomach. Everything is linked. The water you drink most of the time if it is tap water it might not be all that clean. I found that the hard way from my home and guess where my work too. Bottle water any days. It will save you. And then comes the environment. Cities are well polluted. If you don't change your car air filter or you don't have an air filter in your home it will affect you. All those particles can also go in your stomach. And your nose too especially if you have long term allergies like me to everything. All that smut drips slowly into your throat to your stomach. Your whole environment needs to be clean and dust or pollution needs to be managed. Yes if you live on a tropical island you would breath less of those irritants and bacteries. Cause air carries all bacteries.
Then there is the food. Salads are great but more then often are also contaminated and no one cooks his salad to kill those bacteries haha. Heard the gouvernment had to pull some lettuce because of ecoli. Probably not the best salad to eat. And I do believe it happens more often then we would like to admit. I only eat small fruits now these days. Apart from ananas.
So all these bacteries makes their way to your gut and stomach. And if you eat things like cheese it is really hard for your body to evacuate all these. Since cheese will have a tendency to slow everything down. I have so much cheese that I just froze for later darn it. Can only eat a few pieces every 3 days I would say.
Choose your food wisely. Like peanuts are known for their calories intake but less known for their mold and bacteries. The common thinking is less then a determined amount is safe to consume. I say it is still going in your gut. And if you have less stomach acid you will have problems in the long run.
So yes overall what you eat, drink, breath is all combined in your stomach. I literally been cleaning my toothbrush and after boiling it for 6 to 10 minutes. I have that mechanical one by oralB that you can remove the head. Then put it in a pan with clean water after washing it with soap. I have like 12 heads so I do not have to do it everyday. I also use a tiny amount of backing soda once a month if I had eaten some starchy food. Just be careful with your gums or it Will receide.
My teeth cleaning program.
I use listerine no alcohol the purple one everyday. Leave a bit in your mouth then floss with it. It really helps clean the gums deep. Also there is floss that looks like a sponge it cleans wonderfully while bringing more listerine to the deep parts. I think it is called ultra floss or something. It sold in a tiny square box already pre cut. Also after that use the tong scarper. Use a good one made of metal. And make sure you clean it well afterward. Then I swish with oil. Yes oil from avocados and some water to help remove what was forgotten by the floss. I just do it 2 MN since I am doing that almost everyday. And now you can brush your teeths. Use the mechanical toothbrush it saves time and you won't pass hard on your gums and damage them. At least I don't. Also the mechanical toothbrush is great for those far away corners next to molars. I can't live without that toothbrush. The regulars are useless compared to this. I also use the plain crest toothpaste the one with sorbitol as the first ingredient. The others have glycerine and that is a big nono for me. I feel sorbitol even if it is a sugar alcohol has less of an impact. And when you are done just wait. Here comes the killer. Yes hydrogen peroxide. Just swish in your mouth 30 seconds then rinse. All the rest were just the cleaning part this HP is to kill those damn bacterias. And yes you get them partially because of sorbitol. But it is literally in everytoothpaste I've seen.
This is what I do everyday to clean my mouth. It is hell yes but I don't want to offend my coworkers.
Also the thing I forgot to mention is at work I would take 1 capsule of peptid AC. I feel it work better then other brands and I do not trust pepto bismol. They do put Maltitol in them and this is another bad sugar alcohol. Always look for sugar less. In my opinion how the peptid ac works is if you get reflux and you will get reflux just by drinking water trust me. The reflux will get stopped and not go up your throat making it to your mouth almost and giving you that bad smell. Also if you lie down do not lie on your stomach. It pushes everything upwards. Preferably lie on a cozy lazyboy or something.
I probably have forgotten something else because their is so much about this disease and no one talks about it. It is hell for the ppl affected like me. Hopefully this will inspire someone to try my methods. I don't guarantee their success but it is a step forward. I am so tired just like all of u. I will also try the chlorophyll but the big leap was the HP in my opinion.
P.s. if you did not know chewing gum is the biggest nono of them all. It feeds you with sugar or sugar alcohol and it proliferate all those bacteries. Stay away at all cost. If you need to eat something chew on a celery. It will help freshen your breath. Just make sure it is well washed.
Yea i get the burning sensation in my stomach when it's empty.
Have gallbladder tested and see a good gastrologist
