Vowst for CDiff

Posted by fr33dom7 @fr33dom7, Feb 1, 2024

Please share your experiences with Vowst for preventing cdiff recurrence. I am fighting my fourth cdiff recurrence since June 2023. I have been on Vancomycin three times and Dificid once. I am now on vancomycin again as required before beginning Vowst therapy. I am so tired, and worried.

I started Vowst Monday, March 24, 2025. That was after I stopped taking Vancomycin twice a day Thursday, March 20th. I talked with Amber Pharmacy on the 21st. They are very helpful and they call to give you more instructions and helpful tips. I'm not going to lie, the magnesium citrate was nasty. You drink 10 oz the day before. The bottle does come with the Vowst capsules. The person I talked with at Amber, advised me to drink it around 2:00 pm so there wouldn't be any running to the bathroom late at night. I took the four capsules in the next morning, they tend to stick going down, not a pleasant feeling. You are not to eat or drink for one hour after taking the capsules. Plus, you need to fast, no water or food eight hours prior to taking the capsules. That goes for each day.
The only side effect I have has so far, I had a couple bouts of diarrhea the first day. The only other effect has been fatigue.
I'm hoping this is something that will work for a very long time.

Hi, I finished the 3 day 4 pills per day March 26, 2025. So far it has been okay. I haven't had a C Diff episode. I have had a couple of times when I thought one was going to start, but, so far so good. I guess since the GI track needs to settle in with the new bacteria it takes some getting used to. This is probably why my gut feels and acts differently now. It's nothing bad, it's just different. I'll update in about a week. Hopefully, I'm still doing well.
