Who cleans your house?

Wondering how many of you in your late 70s or 80s still clean your own home?

I always hated house cleaning. My husband loved a clean house and did much of the cleaning. (In 55 years of marriage this was the primary sore spot). When we turned 75 essentially together, I announced we were done house cleaning and hired someone. He’s been gone 5 years now and I still miss him terribly, but don’t miss cleaning the house.

I’m with you. I hate cleaning. Gardening, any time, but cleaning? No. I do clean because I also like a clean house, so I’m going to hire someone to do a deep clean every 4-6 weeks.

It is helta -skelta

what that means is a little cleaning here & there .
I am 90 yrs use to clean as needed except kitchen and bath that done daily still.
cleaning lady or service is too expensive.

My apologies. I did not go back.

No need to apologize. It is always good to ask a question. It takes a while to figure out the site--I'm still learning things. Hope you get the info you are looking for!

I agree. I'm a young 80. The kitchen and bath are sanitary and that's enough. The rest is a helta-skelta when needed. I won't pay the expensive prices for cleaning when I can push the dust around with little effort.

@newrochelle1131 I’m not sure if you’re having a joke with us?! 😊 If you’re not being funny, why do you think they’re not relevant?!

I personally find these comments bang on point. Many people feel bad (hands up) getting someone else to clean so do stuff they shouldn’t feel bad about handing on. With serious treatment for stage 4 cancer I had no choice. I needed some help and the cost was well worth it.

The title of the posting was Who cleans your house? The responses, at least on my screen, related completely to another topic. I was unaware that the topic had been previously discussed, since I did not scroll back enough.
This was pointed out to me. I sent a message acknowledging the mistake and apologizing for it.
Do you have any suggestions as to what else to do?
I look forward to your response.
