I too suffered with burning mouth several years. A smart PA at emergency room had my burning stopped within an hour with a recommendation for an esophagus scope which I got. Diagnosed with gastritis w hypetplasia, reflux, and Barrett’s. Treatment with ppi and sucralfate liquid for a month and the burning started decreasing. After 2 months able to stop pain pills. After 5 months I have had to switch ppi’s couple of times. Notice if I take a steroid or antibiotic for infection in other areas that will cause some burning in mouth so must irritate my esophagus. I do dissolve pepsid complete in my mouth couple of times a day if I have break thru burning in mouth. I do all the other recommendations on line for reflux, wedge pillow to raise upper body, eat small low fat to fat free meals, deleted fatty foods, don’t eat after 4 etc. Main thing is patience. Took a good month to get the slightest improvement then pretty quickly improved more. I recommend anyone with burning mouth get your esophagus scope from specialist.
