Tinnitus- any suggestions?
I have developed tinnitus recently. It seems that it may have started on a flight. As we were descending, I felt terrible ear pain. Then, gradually started noticing a white noise in ears.

Totally agree!
ksdm,
What brand of hearing aids did you buy and where?
Audien Atom Pro is the brand, bought them online and they cost $149, although I believe they have a cheaper model. Audienheariang.com. My tinnitis hasn't totally disappeared but it is certainly lessened!
Coming from Julieo4. I just noticed an error in the message from 19 hours ago. I said that it was not COMMON for tinnitus and hearing loss to come together. Should have been UNCOMMON. Tinnitus often accompanies hearing loss. Both are often caused by excess noise exposure. My apologies for that misleading error.
I thought that was what you meant!
Hi, I'm James...I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember. At first I only noticed it at night when things were still and thought I was hearing peeper frogs off in the distance, but as I got older the sound sounded more like peeper frogs in a deep fryer! That was about the time I started noticing my hearing really drop off. I could hear low noises better than high ones so I went to an ENT and got a decent set of hearing aids. They help with the tinnitus a bit, but my audiologist told me about different apps I could download to my phone to add a hint of white noise to mask the tinnitus. None of them have really done me much good, but for those of you that have Bluetooth enabled hearing aids, it might be worth checking into. If anyone's already mentioned this option, sorry for the repeat.
What were your results from the ENT? I too believe that mine started after the pressurization on the plane. Now it's 24 hours of white noise in my head
The ENT seemed a little skeptical of my idea that it started with the flight. He said that tinnitus and hearing loss are related. He sent me to an audiologist who did all manner of tests and said that my hearing loss was only on one side and minimal. She also said to wear ‘Earplanes’ when flying. Earplugs that you can buy at drugstore.
I will admit that I am noticing my tinnitus right now because I am writing and thinking about it.
When i’m not thinking about it, I don’t notice it.
I agree that when I'm not listening for it it's not there but sitting on a couch at night or trying to sleep it's there. And it's the white noise. When I see that it's more on one side than the other, that can mean other complications that you might want to read up on.
