What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

@gingerw

Right now I am getting to watch a mama deer and her yearling doze in our side yard. Usually they "eat and run" but today they have decided to stop and rest. It is a treat for me, and one to never tire of. I am grateful that they feel safe here to be vulnerable.

Hi, @gingerw.

How absolutely cute. I love that! Were you able to take a picture or a video of the pair?

@my44 Nope, no pictures. We often get deer around the house, but this morning it was a bit different. They were not in any hurry, and decided to lay down between the deck and solid fence. I think they are plotting, waiting for my roses to grow into season more, so they can chomp them up!

Here are a couple of photos I took in the spring of 2023 of a deer and her yearling in my back yard. I'm surprised I didn't spook her when I took the pictures from my deck. She did look up when I opened the patio door though.

@johnbishop, they're so cute!!! I love watching deer. I think they're stately and graceful. They don't seem to get spooked as easily as they used to. It seemed like they used to run away at the least bit of noise. Now, if they hear a noise, I see them look up, look around, and go back to what they were doing...which was probably eating up somebody's garden...maybe even @gingerw's roses! 😊

The deer seem happy and content. Thanks for sharing.

My daffodils are beautiful....what's left of them! The snow made them bow their poor heads down to the ground.
Spring is trying very hard to get here.

It's a cold and blustery day today, but still a great day!

This wasn't exactly out my window but it was out of the window of my car. As I was driving to the grocery store last week, I saw the Olympic Mountain Range all white and silvery looming over Edmonds Bay. It was so beautiful! On the way back home I saw the Cascade Mountain Range just as beautiful but not over the water. I've seen these beautiful mountain ranges all my life and never tire of admiring them! Both of these mountain ranges are so big and high! My one thought every time I see them is, "How did the pioneers ever get over them?" But I'm so glad that they did!

My bed is lower than my window but in my living room I can see street activity beautiful trees waiting for the birds to start their singing..I absolutely love nature. I live 10 minutes from a lake and a beautiful river..if only I could see it..soon hopefully.
