Length of treatment

I have cavitary MAC and have been on Azithromycin, Ethambutol & Rifampin daily for 9 months and Arikayce for 8 months and still testing positive. My id doctor just referred me to a new doctor who would have access to additional meds. The new doc said 15% of people who add Arikayce never convert. He added Nuzyra which I just started 3 days ago. I am trying to remain hopeful but I am starting to feel discouraged. Has anyone been on treatment this long and converted?

@namd @wolfplanetzero I was buying my saline from Base Labs - 50 count 5ml vials for $42.95 until I finally got a prescription which now costs me only $15.00 for 60 vials but they are only 4 ml. For the 5ml, I would use 2.5 and then put the open vial in an empty prescription bottle so I got 2 treatments from each one .

Nebulizers and 7% hypertonic saline can be purchased without a prescription, if that interests you. I also have the cavitary form so I'm trying to do everything possible to keep bacteria counts low. Mucus hypersecretion is my biggest issue. It's a daylong challenge, and overnight too. Best of luck to you.

You and me both...."It's a daylong challenge, and overnight too." Oh what fun, hypersecretion!
I guess if we are able to keep the bacteria load down we might like to be thankful for the hypersecretion, if that is what is doing it?????? Don't know. I sure bring up those mucus plugs everyday.

For me it could be bacteria and/or a 5 cm cavity and/or scarring and/or the bronchiectasis. There's just too much of the dang stuff. Driving me bonkers. Hang in there!
