Xanax 0.25mg long term usage 8yrs

Hi, I struggle with anxiety panic attacks daily. I’ve had them since I was 13 years old. I get very dizzy, lightheaded, heart racing, feel like heart, palpitations, sweaty hands filling out of it can’t think straight and it’s way worse when I go in to places where I feel like I have to run out And sit in the car feel comfortable. I was put on a whole different variety of medication‘s for my anxiety panic attacks. None of them seem to work so they finally put me on Xanax three times a day 0.25 mg I have been using this daily for about 7 to 9 years , and my doctor just Prescribed me, busporine 5mg in the morning and noon and evening I am nervous to take this, specially with the use of Xanax.

I will have to look that up! I have tried different anxiety meds but nothing but xanax does help but I can’t get a doctor to prescribe it!
Suggestions? What state do you live in? I’m near Seattle.

I tried Busporine while taking Ativan which is another benzodiazepine like Xanax, I only took the Busporine for a few months because it upset my stomach, the doctor thought it might help me ease off of Ativan but it didn’t work out.

Buspirone is a hit or miss. I started it while taking 2 MG klonopin. I turned into a nut case. I don't think the benzo had anything to do with mixing it. With Buspirone. Just watch yourself. We are all different. I've seen it work and I've seen it not work. If I was you I'd give it a try.

I have taken Buspirone and Xanax both for about two years. They really help my anxiety. I have not had any problems with taking both. I take them both in the morning and at bedtime. I can take the Xanax three times a day which l been doing for the last couple of weeks since had to go to the emergency room with an anxiety attack. It’s sure better taking them both than going to the emergency room.

I have taken Zoloft , Wellbutrin and Buspar in addition to Clonazepam for over 30 years and found it relieves my anxiety and depression extremely well.
What I think we all forget is that each one of us reacts differently to any medication. When you find something that works just stick with it. Every medication you put in your mouth has side effects. Most go away but if they don’t try another medication.
My son tried Wellbutrin and reacted terribly to it and yet I found it to be very complimentary with Zoloft.
Good luck to all of you struggling out there. I hope you find a combination of medications that work for you along with an understanding Doctor.

I think your concern is mixing 2 anti anxiety meds, if I'm understanding what you're asking. The main thing to know is that Xanax and buspar are different classes of drugs so it's not as if you would be doubling up on a benzo, which Xanax is. I've been on Xanax for many years and my doctor also added buspar for me to try at the same time a few years ago. It didn't end up working out for me but it had nothing to do with the 2 meds together, it was that I had an allergic reaction to buspar where my eyes swelled and that's the same reaction I've had to another med years ago. So I would watch for any reactions to the new med but wouldn't have any concerns about the two meds interacting with one another.

Yes, GREAT advice. If it works stay with it! Unfortunately for me effexor quit working for me after years of working. I'm weaning now with the help of zyprexa and klonopin. 3 days after dropping dosage I have vertigo. It's horrible now.
