Can long covid cause this blurry vision?

Posted by ariza9110 @ariza9110, Sep 18, 2024

hey, so since I got what I think was covid 3 months ago and I remember being sick for a couple of days and since then I have this problem where my vision constantly becomes blurry, I focus my vision and 1 second after it unfocuses and my vision becomes blurry, it is really hard for me to read text because of this and I also have this issue of vision becoming blurry and I need to "focus" my vision again when seeing things that are far from me also, I went to an eye doctor and he did a eye test without dilation which was fine and she sent me to do oct which I did but didn't receive the results yet, did anyone experienced something similar with covid and it went away? I am scared I am going blind.

I have had long covid for 2 1/2 years. Like everyone, it has wrecked my life. I have had blurred vision throughout and can only read for 10 to 15 minutes. Worse was double vision. Had to give up my driver's license. I went to a neuro opthamologist and he had no answers. I found an exercise online that improved my vision a great deal. I only get double vision now when I am very tired and when I first wake up. I also get ocular migraines. This stinks, but I have hope we will get help eventually. Ariza9110 you are not going blind. Research exercises online.

My vision went downhill as long covid set in. I got glasses. Someday the glasses help, sometimes they do nothing, some days they make my vision worse. My eyesight is healthy enough for driving. It can just be a nuisance.

For me, the heck with the glasses. They’re in a drawer

since covid and being a long hauler for 4 yrs. now my dry eyes are gushing, watery eyes. any eye drops i've tried don't help and can't wear makeup or eye makeup since my eyes are always gushing. see the optometrist in a week or so but have little expectation he can resolve. does anyone else have this?

Hi - have had long covid for 1.3 years now - had covid 4 times in the past. My symptoms come and go but when I don't feel good my right eye gets blurry - had eye Dr look last year and said everything looks fine. He gave me prescription glasses for the right eye when its blurry.

I have tried multiple prescription eye drops and finally found a winner: Xiidra

Not cheap, but my insurance found a 90 day supply with small copay

I am having eye issues as well. Long Covid 4.2 years. I was so happy to go to my eye exam 2 years ago, I think it was. I thought my blurry vision, and eye twitches were just because I needed to update my prescription. I was incorrect. My eyesight did not change but a slight bit. Not enough to warrant the expense of a new set of glasses.
I spoke to my Neurologist about it and some other heath issues that make no sense. He said straight up - your brain is not communicating to other parts of your body correctly - Long Covid. It’s a virus stuck in our bodies and attacks us at will. I’ve tried so many different diets, acupuncture, IV’s w/NAD, and so many combinations of prescription medications to help get me back on my feet. This is unbelievable. I hope you both find relief from your Long Covid.
Please share if you do! There is nothing better we Long Haulers love to hear about more than success that bring us all hope.
XO

My eyes were so dry that the corneal surface wore off and I had to heal them with drops spun from my own blood. They healed but then
I spent a whole summer where I continuously teared and my skin got chapped and sore and people thought I was crying. It was torture. I did qualify for blepharitis surgery paid by insurance because it was so serious.
After that the surgeon supplied me with multiple samples of drops to try. I tried 3 new ones just FDA approved and liked Miebo and Xiidra. There was also a new nasal spray for extreme dry eye. Xiidra ended up the best and is a bit cheaper.
Perhaps your optimologist could provide samples to try (although the go fast when the rep provides them) Keep calling and asking!
When your eyes ache everything goes haywire. I am now finally experiencing normalcy but realize I will probably be on Xiidra my entire life.
Wishing you luck! 🍀

i am familiar w/using your blood for the eye issues as my optometrist suggested that; it sounds like you have/had something different in terms of how dry your eyes are...mine now gush and water and i've tried all eye drops; think a few mo. ago i had temporary eye plugs put in but with the post covid brain fog, i can't remember if they helped or not. i see the optometrist next week. many many yrs. ago i had bleph surgery which i believe was the main reason why i have dry eyes as eyelids don't close completely while sleeping but i think the virus has definitely affected my eyes as well as so many other body parts. so happy you're getting relief finally.
