Who cleans your house?

Wondering how many of you in your late 70s or 80s still clean your own home?

I moved about 2 miles away. I looked for a year and a half to find a one-story, small house. Not easy where I live.

I know what you mean, congratulations on finding one! Condo is the other option, but my husband absolutely refuses. I feel sort of the same way although I really would like to not have to maintain anything outside the front door. Plus, we have a dog with separation anxiety and I'm afraid in a condo we would be kicked out the first time we went out for dinner.

Moving is a lot of work and major decisions. For " outside the front door", I hire a lawn guy and have reduced my garden to just in front of my house. I hire a gardener when it gets weedy.

I’ve been using a Robo for a decade now. The latest models are great. Smart. Efficient. Easy to use. My old Hoover is gathering dust.

I do. I'm 76. I had a regular house keeping business who sent ladies out to clean once every 2 weeks, but quite a few things were omitted repeatedly so I finally took that chore over again. My house may not be spotless all the time, but for several days after I clean it, I'm satisfied with it. Hope you have better luck. Oh, the price they were charging me certainly left no areas unattended.

I'm 83. I have bad balance from chemo 3 years ago . I live alone out in the country. My son comes for a few days at a time. He helps me, though there is more to clean after he leaves. I plan a chore a day. It doesn't look like it did when my husband was alive and we built the house over 30 years ago, but being in a beautiful spot on 25 acres with dust on the baseboards is fine. I get some exercise.

Rumba, Samsung, and several other makers make excellent robots. Please shop around, look for reviews (legitimate ones, including Consumer Reports, Tom's Guide, and PCMag websites.

I am not yet 70 (68), but for those who still do your own housework and mention vacuuming and swiffers to keep up with dog hair, I’d like to suggest a robo-vac. I have a natural long-haired Shih Tzu and I have the RoboRock vac (which vacs and mops) programmed to run at 10:15AM and 2:15PM weekdays and keeps the floors perfectly clean! Mine’s been running this schedule for the past 4 to 5 years. I’ve suggested the same to several friends and now they love theirs also. Priceless!
Best regards.

@desireeh Can the robo track between rugs and hardwood floors in the same room?
