Echolight sonogram scan for bones

Posted by csday @csday, Jan 8, 2022

Has anyone heard of, or had an Echolight sonogram scan instead of a radiation DEXA scan? New FDA approved that has been used in Europe for awhile. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/company/

I phoned Vero Radiology (Cleveland Clinic) and after being transferred several times, I spoke to a woman in the actual facility. The woman had to check and informed me that the facility has a "new" machine (about a year old) but it is not Echolight, but Hologic. I googled Hologic and learned Hologic is a new version of DXA. I will keep trying. I have an appointment with my osteoporosis "specialist" doctor in Orlando next week and maybe she can help (instead of prescribing drugs with awful side effects).

I, too, have been trying to find a facility in Florida. I live in Orlando.
I messaged Echolight (via "contact us" on their website) and they responded stating there is a facility in Tampa:
USF Health Informatics Institute.
The telephone number provided was a general USF Health phone number and the operator could not help me. I went to the USF Health Informatics Institute website and tried to contact a staff member by email. I have not received a response, and it has been over a week. I am convinced that my DEXA scores are either inaccurate or incomplete and would like a second/different test.

Did you ever find a facility in Orlando or close by?

My doctor in Orlando is Christine Jablonski, MD. She has an office at Jewett Orthopedic Center in Orlando and one at Orlando Health Women's Center in Winter Park. It is my understanding that it takes quite a while to get an appointment. I am seeing her every 6 months or so. I believe my BMD has stabilized. However my CTX score has decreased (not to normal but much better than it was). I am still declining pharmacueticals and am diligent with my routine of healthy diet and exercise. Dr. Jablonski seems to know what blood work to order and I will be getting my blood work done in a few weeks. FYI, I asked her about REMS and she dismissed the technology.

I have not found a facility in Orlando, but Osteostrong in Lake Mary has had an outside entity go to their facility with a REMS Echolight machine and do testing. I have driving anxiety and Lake Mary is a bit too far for me. However, Osteostrong in Winter Springs (Tuscawilla) is a bit closer and they may be having someone at their facility do testing in the future (possibly next month - however, I was told last year that it would be last December or January). I hope that I am able to get a REMS scan there or possibly in Orlando in the near future. In the meantime, I will continue my healthy eating and exercise regime. (my GYN recommended against HRT because of my age [71 then and now 72] and the risk of blood clots).

Yes, the machine located at Orlando Health Women's Center in Winter Park has the TBS software. My doctor ordered TBS together with my DEXA. I have had 2 DEXAs with TBS at that facility. Both were consistently "degraded." 🙁

Thank you for this information. I am in a webinar class and the Dr. feels the REMS is better. I will write more later.
