Entire left side of body goes numb deep inside.

I’ve been discussing this a bit in the hemiplegic migraine area. But I want to take a different approach and just put this out there and see what others may have to offer. The doctors in my area didn’t seem to be of any help, which seems to be very common with what I’m reading here.

So here’s my situation in a nutshell. I am not going to go into all the other various symptoms right now. So what takes place is the entire left side of my bod ,can go numb from the top of my head right down the centerline of my body All the way down to my toes. It’s not a stroke, it’s not a TIA, it’s not MS. Hemiplegic migraine is the only other thing that I’ve come across so far that can cause this. But the doctors in my area give me a blank stare when I even say that word. What I’m wondering is if anyone reading this knows of any other sort of thing that can cause Numbing on one side of the body. I’m somewhat operating as if it’s hemiplegic, although I get no paralysis. I get a lot of other stuff and it’s a frequent daily thing and it just knocks me right down. So aside from all of the other symptoms, is there anything else out there that you are aware of that can cause numbing on one side of the body, deep numbing. I don’t lose the sensation of feel or touch, so it’s not like numbing on the outside.
I am eagerly waiting for responses!

Good question - one thought:
"When pain and numbness occur in a specific bodily region (like on one side of the body), the most likely culprit are the spinal nerves. In fact, most instances of numbness can be traced back to a nerve issue. The nerves in the spinal column help transmit sensory signals to our body parts from the brain, and vice versa."

First off, I’m sorry you are going through this. I believe I have been experiencing the same type of thing as you for the past 10 yrs. Mine started having 1-2 episodes a year, had a spell of more frequent ones on the past few years. I do have history of an AVM that Drs. Say is unrelated. I’ve had all the testing and bloodwork as well.. Seems to be a mystery as to why and so frustrating! Dr prescribed Vimpat for “seizures “. Have been on that for over a year . Just had another episode this morning.. it’s a terrible feeling and leaves you wondering if you will pull out of it each time, or if it’s the one that will end you!! I would be very interested in sharing advice as I am at a dead end here.

Have you visited a Neurologist? Have you had a brain scan?

For me the numbness can last for days in one form or another. To describe it to someone and saying how uncomfortable it can be is an understatement. I get numb to the point where it is actually painful.

Can I ask if you ever figured out what caused the one sided tingling/numbness?

I'm interested in the one-sided numbness update as well.

Hi, my name is Andrea and I live in West Virginia. Last year I started having numbness in my left side. It starts in my mouth and goes down to my toes and then I get a fuzzy feeling in my head and I am lightheaded. It lasts for about 30 seconds and then it is gone until it happens again. There are times it happens 4-5 times a day and then, there are days it doesn’t happen at all. I am not sure if this is like what you have or not. The last time it happened on Friday, after the fuzzy feeling in my head, I had horrible pain and pressure above my eyes and then pressure around my head. After that I had bad pressure behind my eyes and then a Migraine. I am starting some testing. NCS/EMG scheduled and 3T MRI’s of the head, cervical and thoracic spine. I am hoping it provides some answers.

You mentioned you are staring some testing and have an NCS/EMG scheduled along with 3T MRI's of the head, cervical and thoracic spine. Hoping you get some answers. When are your tests scheduled?

Curious if a diagnosis was ever found. In April of 2025, the right side of my body went completely numb. It came and went several times through that evening. I then returned as mild numbness that hasn't gone away. I had every test anyone could think of. Nothing was found as a cause. An unruptured aneurysm was found, and likely saved my life. The location of the aneurysm led everyone to believe it would not cause the numbness. I had a craniotomy to clip the aneurysm on 10/28/2025. The right side numbness persists.
