Tips on minimizing withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine)

Posted by richyrich @richyrich, Nov 2, 2016

I have been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine for years and tried to get off it a few times but each time I try to give up the chemical withdrawal symptoms are a horror story and I give up giving up. Anyone got any tips or tried and tested strategies? Thank you

Hi Sharonlou,
I’m in CA too, about 80 miles east of San Francisco in the sweltering hot valley. What part of CA do you live.

I tried to answer this 3 hours who but was out in the wilderness of the Ozarks so it wouldn't send.
Back home now after singing one song at my home music jam. I even got to sit in the chair I occupied for 6 years.
Sorry I digress. The papers are titled: Missouri dept of revenue
2018 property tax credit claim.
Its for seniors who rent, low income or disabled.
Thank you, Sharonlou, I try to help folks cuz so many folks helped me heal and I remember what helped.
Smiling at you and welcome. Bright Wings

@sharonlou, after I posted this, I felt disappointed cuz this is Missouri and you are in CA.
But no, it's Missouri taxes so it has to be state by state. Yes, this is available in all of our states.
Go for it darling...

.
FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT GETS YOU A LONG WAY.
.
I've been having so many health problems since September when the pesticides got dumped.
Almost died twice, Nov, COPD and Feb, cold in the house.
To say I felt crappy is a mild statement.
.
Those days I put on the image I wanted folks to see. "I am the Graceful Light" worked the best when I felt my worst. It was like an invisible mantle or cloak and I would glide instead of stumble and fall...truth..
Then when I was home I took it off and felt scrappy again. Keeping it on made me feel better, so I chose to use it A lot.
This gave me back the control in an uncontrollable situation.
Try it, you might like it. BW

I was only ever on 25mg Effexor for hot flashes. I found the withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, agitation, akathisia and insomnia) very troubling and disruptive. The emotionalism and instant rage were also a nasty surprise. I told my doctor that my husband had married me for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, but he didn't know about, or agree to Effexor. Our 39th anniversary is next month; the D word has been spat out there a few times over the years. You say you've been able to tolerate your withdrawal symptoms, but you admit to rage and crying jags. While you're getting off Effexor isn't the best time to make a decision regarding your marriage (or your job). Please don't draw a line in the sand over words said in the heat of the moment; neither of you is at your best right now.

@sandij- It's so frustrating going through a personal tough time with physical problems and not have a happy marriage. I agree with @texasdutchess that you should wait until your withdrawal symptoms have all disappeared before making any major decisions. Besides you are probably angry at the world right now. YOur husband probably doesn't know how to handle your moods. Please talk to him and clue him in. Keep him in your loop so that he will better be able to help. Can you do this?

@rascal1

From what CBD maker are you ordering and in what strength at what dosage please?
I’ve been looking into Lazarus and Charlotte’s Web.
I have much anxiety, depression and arthritic pain.
Thanks very much BW !

@rascal1- Good morning- I use Charlotte's web now instead of my local compassion center. Prices are more than half the price. The dosage is a bit higher at 11% so I reduce the amount. As a matter of fact I just reduced the amount because I wasn't feeling that great mentally and it has helped. I also didn't post very much either. I didn't feel emotionally connected. I hate that because I love it on here and I love mentoring and when I can't do that it makes me feel even worse. Everything is a cycle! Does this help?
