Tips on minimizing withdrawal symptoms from Effexor (aka Venlafaxine)

Posted by richyrich @richyrich, Nov 2, 2016

I have been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine for years and tried to get off it a few times but each time I try to give up the chemical withdrawal symptoms are a horror story and I give up giving up. Anyone got any tips or tried and tested strategies? Thank you

Welcome, how much Effexor have you been taking for how long.
Please get to reading other people's posts to see tips on how to make it thru the withdrawal successfuly. Most important, keep coming back.

@brightwings you may wish to consider prefacing posts that include references to sexual acts with "TRIGGER WARNING/SEXUAL". It would be helpful for me and perhaps others.
Hoping you get the rest you need!

@secretwhitepop- I can understand how sad you feel because it is sad. What can you do to make sure that she is more cared for?

We have a place all lined up. Not a part of where she is living now, but literally right across the parking lot! Now we have to convince mom it’s the best place. I can tell she’s trying and even trying to do what we, her children want, to make US happy. There’s a big part of her still there. But she needs a boost. This morning we went to her place to pick her up for church. This morning she said she didn’t want to go, but with our encouragement, she’s enjoying her Easter with family! All she needs is a boost. I’m hoping the new place will help her. (And I’m happy she’s still clean from yesterday, ha ha!)

Sigh. And another big sigh.

Thanks, all, for listening.

Good Morning!

Sorry your day went so badly!
You are having longer periods of feeling well, maybe that is the way it will work????
You'll go downhill for a while (hopefully for shorter periods of time) and then go back up (hopefully for longer periods of time).
Remember when you had NO good periods?

Have a GOOD day!!!!

I just read a post and now I can’t find it where someone (bright wings?) wrote that when good things happen she will put them in her pocket. I love it! So thanks!

I teach folks to take the steps when dealing with elderly parents to life their live so they have no regrets.
This is hard stuff you are doing...what are you doing after each interaction with things related to your moms care to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF?
Like developing motto s to help you get thru your stuff after being with mom.
Also please remember, all the things you are doing, your mom already did for you....like washing rugs with pee on it and etc.
Cuz after your mom is gone, you don't want to have any regrets.
Yes, her care is important, but you are too.
Suggestion...go get a bottle of bubbles. Yes, I said bubbles..
Then blow your troubles into the bubble so you don't keep unnecessary burdens inside you.
Try it, it works.
I remember going and buying THE ENTIRE bubble supply in my tiny town. 100 bottles. I gave them away at Ceremony and it was so incredible watching 75 folks sending their cares up into the sky. Bright Wings

Its me again. The one would was so bold as to think I could do this cold turkey. After being very sick, angry and crying uncontrollably I thought I would try what all the professionals recommend and go off it gradually. Its just hard for me feeling like I am not in control but then I was told I am. In control of how I manage this. I respect all of the comments here and humbly ask for any help on managing my symptoms. Brain fog. Nausea. Weariness. Emotional roller coaster. 😥🥴🙂

CBD, CBD, CBD....
I knew you would be back. I too went cold turkey...it sucks and is dangerous.
Best thing you can do is get to reading what helped others.
Then when you are tired of reading, rest a bit, let those things sink in and see what your guts tell you that will help...then read some more...Bright Wings
Now I am taking a nap.
