Does depression and anxiety ever get better?
I suffer from depression and anxiety everyday. I take a lot of Meds but none of it helps. I don’t feel my physiologist has the knowledge to proper diagnose my condition. He keeps putting up my medications to the point I feel like a zombie. I am only in my 50s and a lot of living left to do. How do I figure out my problems of depression and anxiety.

I’m so sorry. I’m not from AZ. Have you tried NAMI?

I looked them up on line. Their meetings are held in downtown Phoenix and I don’t have any transportation. An uber would be prohibitively expensive. But, thank you for your suggestion — it is most appreciated.
Would online meetings be an option for you?
I currently take Lorazepam, sinequan, zopiclone, venlafaxine , quetiapine. It’s a mess and I don’t think it works for me. I see a phycarist and avail of the local counselors in our health care clinic.
Lifestyle changes good nutrition rest quiet time meditation. Psychiatric meds way overprescribed. They do not adress the root cause of the issue or issues. Often it is trauma.
I believe for most of us we need a great mental heath counselor. That being said , good luck with that. Hope you find one. . I’ve been searching for 30 years and have seen 10 different humans who should all lose their licenses. Of course it may be easier if you don’t live in a rural area with sub par services. We are left to suffer . I give up on Hope.
A lot of pills can mask the underlining problem. Numbness is not the same as mindfulness. To help in any problem or issue is focus on triggers that causes your symptoms. Is it health. Family. Job. Lifestyle. Marriage. Etc. what helps. Relaxation techniques. Activities. Reading. Movies. Dating. Sometimes and I do not recommend this without approval is to “half it”. If you find you are in a zombie state try taking 1/2 dose or every other day scenario. Again this needs to be done and approved by psychiatrist overseeing your care. They can also prescribe lower dosages. The end result will be better for you in dealing with anxiety and depression and not masking it over.
Wish I could seek asylum.
Yes, it can get better- a lot better. For me the answer was going the natural route, with the assistance and guidance of an intergative medical practitioner. It wasn't easy. In fact it was a three year battle for my health. We experimented with diet, medicine, vitamins, and supplements. There were times I wanted to give up. I truly believe I survived and got better because I intended to.
I am also a big fan of integrative medicine. Give it a try, it's worked wonders for me!
