Taking blood thinners. Have headache every day.
Anyone have any advice for me? I take blood thinners and have had a mild headache every day for months. Initially I was taking a different blood thinner and had severe headaches, so they took me off that blood thinner and started me on the one I'm taking now. But I still have headaches ...but mild headaches. If I'm busy with something I barely notice the headache.

I have a similar issue but it became more intense, so I was switched from Edoxaban to Apixaban, and had three weeks headache free so far. I wonder if there’s something different in the mechanism of clearance from the body that causes these headaches to start around 2-4am in the night?
Your comment about clearing the body is very interesting. I've been wondering about this myself. I've noted previously on Mayo Connect comments about Eliquis which I have taken for a few years. Have minimal if any issues with increases in bruising or bleeding. However, my first dose in the AM makes me woozy quite often and for different lengths of time but not the dose in the evening. I've wondered if clearance of the Rx in my system/body or retention times could be a factor in these issues.
Hi
Oh dear. I had a vague one yesterday but we are in the height of summer.
For fear of anything I
hydrated frequently
turned on the personal FAN
ate a light meal.
it left.
I chose PRADAXA 110mg x twice a day. Why because you don't get a large dose all at once. Less risky if you take it too soon or you are late. It also has an antidote.
Only once over 5 years have I had it too close. I was late so took it and then took at time more or less on time. I rung poisons and they weren't concerned just to watch for blood nose. Blood in faeces etc. Nothing about headaches.
Make sure your B12 is 700-800 level. I am deficient so I take 1 nugget under tongue sublingual SOLGAR 1000ug 5 days in each week.
Check iron.
Check Thyroid levels.
Take care cheri JOY. 76. (tuckie)
I didn't like the effect of the perscription blood thinners. I found Garligin, I take it 3x a day. Works great as a blood thinner, I have been using it for years, 10% of the cost of the others and no side effects.
I am a Von Willebrand's pt. with newly discovered aneurysm. I have a Hematologist but appreciate your info on Pradaxa and recommendation for sublinguel B12. So wonderful to be a part of this forum.
Would someone explain why aspirin is not adequate?
In short, the issue at hand is risk/benefit. For example, daily aspirin may increase the risk of a bleeding stroke [hemorrhagic stroke] and the risk of stomach ulcer and gastrointestinal bleeding. And you might find useful data via link below:

Thank you. That was a great read with reasonable recommendations. Aspirin was all we used before acetaminophen.
Women were not considered candidates for bleeding disorders so many of us experienced constant anemia. Each decade brings a strange new world...
I see my Hematologist the end of March. I have no idea which therapies are used to treat aneurism when there is a platelet disorder.
They never put me on blood thinners for my arrhythmia because of my Von Willebrand's.
Back to the original question. Did the patient with H.A. have additional imaging? It sounds like microbleeds.
