Jardiance for congestive heart failure: pros and cons?

Thanks so much for this info. In my case, I haven't found a way to manage the cost, so you have given me another way to go ahead. I've always been reluctant to try Canada Pharmaceuticals, but good to know that it's an option.

I have been taking Jardiance for CHF for just over a year and it has greatly improved the quality of my life. However, I have also been experiencing rather severe diarrhea since starting Jardiance and I'm wondering if this could be a side effect. I can't find diarrhea as a side effect in the literature so I'm wondering if others who are taking it have had diarrhea? Thanks for any information.

It looks as though the Jardiance manufacturer offers a co-pay card which allows the holder to pay a $10 copay for a 30 to 90 day supply of Jardiance. The qualifications for this card are that the person must be a US ( or Puerto Rican, IIRC) resident, have a prescription drug plan through a private insurance company, and not have a drug plan through a government program such as Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare. This works with the insurance, and they say the card can be renewed. I use a similar card to pay a co-pay of $10 for a 30 day supply of Eliquis- my drug plan is through my secondary insurance, federal employees BC/BS, which is a private insurance provider.

Hello, I was able to receive help with the Jardiance from the drug company, but have had no luck for assistance to get off of Warfarin. The alternatives are far out of reach for me to afford, sadly. I currently have Humana for my Rxs, but can't afford the
cost thru them. Interesting to hear that Eliquis may offer a discount card with just a co-pay, I will check that out. Thanks!

Both my cardiologist and my nephrologist have recommended Jardiance. I do have kidney failure, and I also have diastolic heart failure. I have not yet taken it because of the cost and because of the side effects. It is helpful for me to read others here who have taken Jardiance and it has helped their conditions. Because I have a Part D Medicare drug plan, I am unfortunately not able to get any discount cards for Jardiance. Also - my Xarelto has tripled in price - again no discount programs are available to me. I just may have to "bite the bullet" since I need these drugs. A relative gets her Eliquis from Canada; I may go that route.

I'd think if you were eligible for the Jardiance $10 copay card, you'd also qualify for the Eliquis copay card. That'd be a significant savings for you! I'm able to get my Eliquis for $10 for a30 day supply, in fact, the last time I had the script refilled at CVS they gave me a 90 day supply for $30!

So sad that these drugs, that so many of us need, are so costly! I did qualify for help with the Jardiance. but need to reapply each January. A friend of mine is getting her meds from Canada also, but I have been reluctant with my complex heart history. I'm hoping everything goes well for you.

Thanks, joyh. I agree that it is so sad that these lifesaving drugs that so many of us need are so costly. Also (from my perspective) it is sad that those of us on Medicare who require these medications are not eligible for any of the discounts offered by drug companies. It is frustrating.
