GI Disorder and Internal Shaking

Posted by gigiraj @gigiraj, Feb 15, 2019

Hi all. I'm a 21 year old South Asian female and I have been having GI issues for about five years--mainly along the lines of constipation. I do have bowel movements every day but it takes a long time & I am rarely fully cleared out. These GI issues are always accompanied by other health issues (gas, pressure in head, etc). Recently, some scary new conditions have manifested: In the past few weeks, there have been times where my heart starts beating wildly and very fast. Sometimes, when I'm tired and constipated, my entire body feels like its vibrating internally; the shakes aren't visible but it feels like all my muscles are quivering. At this point, I feel a constant shaking/quivering within my body, especially in my heart cavity.

I have had TWO EKG's and both came back normal. All lab tests for diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, etc came back within normal limits. I am very concerned about this internal shaking. My dad says he found something about how GI disorders can impact muscoskeletal system and since the heart is a muscle, it's contracting and being affected. But I wanted to know if anyone here can help!!!!!!! If anyone knows anything at all please please please let me know!!!!!

Hi, I am just wondering if you found an answer to your GI/Internal shaking?
I feel like we have almost same thing that is going on. I experienced gastro issues last year July. Had endoscopy done, Abdominal CT and Pelvic Ultrasound and everything came back normal and eventually I got better. Didn’t notice much apart from occasional indigestion. This year again, just 7 weeks ago I started having bad hyperacidity, abdominal discomfort indigestion despite that I am on omeprazole. My Dr. Increase the dosage for my omeprazole plus famotidine and domperidone. I been experiencing pounding heart rate and pounding and palpitations after meal most and when I feel my stomach needs food again my heart i racing as well. I get fatigue, achy arms even before I feel like I am hungry. 4 weeks ago I started getting this internal shaking at night when I’m about to sleep. Sometimes the internal shaking wakes me up. At times during the day I get internal shaking. I felt like it is connected to my gut. I had my heart monitoring done in 24hrs. Stress test and echocardiogram on my heart. I’m still waiting for my cardiology appointment next month. I’m getting quite anxious of what is going on with me.

Hi, the doctors have not given me definitive diagnosis. I just managed the symptoms myself. What my doctor told me the that domperidone can sometimes cause the internal shaking so I stopped taking it which resolves my shaking at night. I am more careful with what I eat now. Tried to avoid oily and really spicy food. Low carb diet and not taking any ibuprofen or anti-inflammatory drugs. I had it before covid but I noticed it will flare up again if you have some kind of viral infection. So if that happens to I just have to double my dose of losec and be more diligent with food intake. Small frequent eating if necessary. Hope you’ll learn how to managed your symptoms. It is quite frustrating and a bit of a worry when it happens

I have this shaking but I have a vitamin D deficiency. My shaking seems to echo throughout my left side. No one can seem to help me and its getting stronger, waking me up. Is this a spastic colon?

I have neuropathy on my left side...I went to lots of doctors...they didn't know. I think it was long covid. I took alpha lipoic acid and lions mane and it helped my neuropathy a bit.

I have tortuous bowel and when symptoms are bad ie diarrhea, pain, bloating etc I definitely get heart palpitations, chills/shaky, dizzy etc. like fluish feelings. So bad it wakes me from sleep and cant sleep more than an hour or two at time. They found that there is an immune response when the bowel misfunctions. The body is trying to cope, like it does with flu.

I don’t know if it’s the same thing, but I feel like my insides (particularly in my upper abdomen) are shaking or vibrating on occasion. Occasionally I have had a fluttery feeling in my chest if I’ve dozed in the recliner but seems to be related to the pressure that puts on my abdomen. This all seems to happen when I’m full of gas. This is my primary complaint. I started out with hPylori a couple years ago and had a lot of complications following the massive antibiotics used to kill it. I’ve made a lot of progress but still deal with a lot of gas. It seems to be better if I take Prevacid and Zantac for a couple weeks then switch to IB Guard. Sometimes Gas-X just isn’t enough for the gas and I take charcoal caps bought over the counter. That helps the most. But the shaking or vibrating always seems to be tied to gas for me. It’s almost felt like my heart was fluttering but my pulse was normal. I had a heart monitor once but the fluttery times don’t coincide with anything on the monitor. I had this once when I was a lot younger and had candida yeast problem and it went away after that was treated. I also had excess gas with that. So for me it sure seems to be tied to gas.

Hi. I know this is quite old post. But it reminded me of a suggestion by a Doctor that my internal tremors might have been caused by simethicone, which some anti-gas and antiacids have as ingredient. This ingredient is derived from silicon and can be neurotoxic. So she said. I stopped taking anything with that ingredient and I regained strength and stop having tremors

I had sudden onset stomach inflammation, but no ulcer as far as I know, and it came along with tinnitus and also Gerd, which I had never had before, and then a few nights ago I felt that internal vibrating sensation that you were describing. I looked up the symptoms online and found that they could be from long Covid. I wasn’t aware that I ever had Covid, but in mid November, suddenly out of nowhere, I was sick for a couple weeks and couldn’t eat, and had terrible diarrhea. My stomach is still not right. I have no idea what’s going on. I Have read that Gerd can cause tinnitus. I would think esophagitis is the same thing, right? I’ve been thinking of going to a clinic and having a colonoscopy or something because I can’t figure out what’s wrong. It’s really seems to be getting better, but not fast enough. Plus, I’m exhausted all the time and having insomnia. I hope we can figure out what’s going on. Let me know if you get any info and I’ll try to do the same. I hear you and I feel your pain! It’s dreadful not to be able to eat. 😩💕

Oh so you do still have the vibrations and palpitations? Yeah it’s annoying. Mine is mainly in my stomach and chest lately. It’s scary though as feels like my heart is vibrating. I had a 24 hour ecg which came back fine, bloods in December which came back with low vitamin d and iron so I’ve had supplements but everything again was fine. They keep saying stress and anxiety to me but they have now referred me to a neurologist just to shut me up I think. I am also getting tested for food sensitivities as not sure if it’s something like that. I don’t know. It’s just such an unsettling feeling.

I’m not sure who you were asking, but I’m still having the vibrating, shaky feeling and in fact, it’s getting worse. I did read online that if you put your food in a blender, which I’ve been doing, it can spike your blood sugar because you absorb carbs too quickly. I don’t eat sugar, but I do eat a lot of carbs. They’re all healthy, but still. So it could be partly that and partly stress. I have finally given in and made an appointment at a gastroenterology clinic, which I really don’t want to do because traditional medicine leaves me cold every time but I’m gonna see what they say. Good luck to everyone on here!
